Hempfield Area 38 Canon-McMillan 27 - WATCH BROADCAST
Dom Detruf had a monster game, and Hempfield Area scored 24 unanswered points to claim a 38-27 home victory against Canon-McMillan in Class 6A action. Detruf went 26-of-34 for 346 yards and four scores for the Spartans (4-2, 1-2). Troy Sebring caught seven passes for 119 yards, while Lucas Simmons hauled in six passes for 93 yards, scoring three times. Jack Kopas added another receiving score for Hempfield, while Aidan Stinebiser contributed 16 carries for 68 yards and a rushing TD. In the defeat, Talan Sabatucci had a prolific effort for the Big Macs (3-3, 1-1), as he caught six passes for 203 yards and scored three times.
Southmoreland 23 Derry Area 11 - WATCH BROADCAST
Led by quarterback Dawson Wolfe and a stout defense, Southmoreland remains undefeated with a 23-11 victory at Derry Area in the Class 3A Interstate Conference lid lifter. Wolfe went 12-of-19 for 179 yards and two scores, while Stanley Betters caught two passes for 58 yards and a score and Ty Whoric added two receptions for 37 yards and a TD for the Scotties (6-0, 1-0). Max Doherty rushed 25 times for 128 yards and the lone TD for the Trojans (3-3, 0-1), while Dylan Pitzer’s sack of Wolfe caused a safety.
Clairton 57 Jeannette 0 - WATCH BROADCAST
Jeannette was blanked at home in a 57-0 loss against Clairton in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. The Bears (4-1, 3-0) notched a pair of pick-sixes, including one from Donte Wright, who scored three different ways. Jeff Thompson went 6-of-9 for 109 yards and two scores for Clairton. Quarterback Kymon’e Brown was limited to 54 yards passing and two interceptions for the Jayhawks (3-3, 1-2), while Jayce Powell had two receptions for 38 yards.
Kiski Area 14 Franklin Regional 7 - LISTEN BROADCAST
Playing QB with Landyn Artman injured, Aven Shirley led host Kiski Area to a 14-7 victory against Franklin Regional in a Class 5A Big East Conference showdown. Shirley rushed 16 times for 152 yards and a score, and he also tossed an 18-yard TD pass to Teegan Shirley for the Cavaliers (2-4, 1-2). The Panthers (0-6, 0-3) avoided the shutout with a late TD connection from Dominick Devola to Evan Chadwick.
Thomas Jefferson 14 Belle Vernon Area 10 - LISTEN BROADCAST
Turnovers doomed Belle Vernon Area, as the host Leopards fell 14-10 to Thomas Jefferson in a Class 4A Big Six Conference clash. A fourth-quarter fumble by BVA’s Curty Wade allowed the Jaguars (5-1, 1-0) to take the lead on a 31-yard pass from Harrison Kolling to Dom Volomino. Wade compiled 214 yards and a TD, along with two interceptions, on 13-of-17 attempts, while Chase Petrosky racked up 123 yards on the ground and Anthony Dicenzo notched a 73-yard TD reception for the Leopards (1-4, 0-1).
Woodland Hills 33 Greater Latrobe 9
Greater Latrobe had no answers for Scoop Smith, who scored four touchdowns to lead host Woodland Hills to a 33-9 triumph in the Class 5A Big East Conference. Smith scored three different ways for the Wolverines (4-2, 2-0), as he notched two touchdown catches, a TD run, and a punt return score. Mitch Horner accounted for all of the scoring for the Wildcats (2-4 1-2), as he booted field goals spanning 38, 34, and 33 yards. Dom Scarton threw for 137 yards in the setback for GL.
Mount Pleasant Area 41 Yough 7
Dane Firmstone factored into touchdowns in three different ways, as Mount Pleasant Area steamrolled Yough 41-7 in a Class 3A Interstate Conference tilt. Firmstone rushed for a score, completed 5-of-10 passes for 48 yards and a touchdown, and returned a block punt for another TD for the Vikings (4-2, 1-0). Additionally, Stephen Predajna rushed 16 times for 105 yards and a score, and Rage Suchar and Kaden Hudec also notched TD runs. The Cougars’ (2-4, 0-1) lone score came in the fourth quarter on a 7-yard pass from Aiden Shaffer to Ryan Sarver, who caught nine passes for 42 yards.
Elizabeth Forward 49 Greensburg Salem 7
Although homestanding Greensburg Salem trailed by just seven points in the latter stages of the first half, Elizabeth Forward notched 35 unanswered points to claim a 49-7 win in the Class 3A Interstate Conference. Ryan Messina threw for 236 yards and two scores for the Warriors (5-1, 1-0), while Logan Rider caught nine passes for 177 yards. With starting QB Brody Chismar out, Chris Berger went 6-of-18 for 133 yards and a score and three interceptions for the Golden Lions (2-4, 0-1). Tyrese Lewis caught two passes for 61 yards and the lone TD for GS.
Burrell 29 East Allegheny 28
A late interception by Liam Perdue sealed a 29-28 victory for Burrell against East Allegheny in the Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference. Antonio Perkins rushed for 180 yards and all four TDs for the Buccaneers (2-4, 1-1). Trey Coury also surpassed 100 yards rushing for Burrell. In the loss, the Wildcats (1-5, 1-2) were led by Cedric Mack, who threw for 260 yards and three scores.
Freeport Area 42 Valley 7
Freeport Area scored all of its points in the first quarter, as Valley was overmatched in a 42-7 home defeat in the Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference. A 10-yard run by Juzef Betts accounted for the only points for the Vikings (0-6, 0-2).
South Allegheny 62 Ligonier Valley 14
Despite another big outing from Greyson Daugherty, Ligonier Valley was overmatched 62-14 at South Allegheny in Class 2A Allegheny Conference play. Joey Gamret compiled 139 yards rushing and four scores for the Gladiators (6-0, 3-0). Daugherty amassed 103 yards receiving and a score for the Rams (0-6, 0-3).
Norwin 21 North Hills 17
Giovanni Rothrauff produced another 100-yard rushing game to lead Norwin to a 21-17 road victory against North Hills in a nonconference clash at Martorelli Stadium. Rothrauff rushed for 190 yards and a pair of scores for the Knights (4-2).
Penn-Trafford 33 Plum 14
Cody Yacamelli had a breakthrough performance to propel Penn-Trafford to a 33-14 triumph at Plum in nonconference play. Yacamelli compiled 115 yards on nine carries, totaling four scores for the Warriors (5-1). Nate Desmond threw for 96 yards, while Tyler Boss caught three passes spanning 45 yards.
South Side Beaver 21 Monessen 7
Monessen fell at home to South Side Beaver 21-7 in a nonconference clash. In the loss, Kayden Kolbeck connected with Tavian Taylor for an alliterative touchdown for the Greyhounds (4-2).
