Hempfield Area 6 Canon-McMillan 3   WATCH BROADCAST

Hempfield Area captured its biggest win over the season, upending first place Canon-McMillan 6-3 in a Section 2-6A battle. The Spartans scored at least one run in four of the sixth innings they were at the plate, capitalizing on three Big Macs errors in the process. Ian Kovalcik went 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI for Hempfield Area (6-8, 3-4). Owen Shuglie and Chase Damaska added RBI singles. Lucas Simmons was the winning pitcher while Dane Willis tossed three scoreless innings of relief to earn the save. M.J. Maruschak collected three hits and scored twice for Canon-McMillan (12-3, 7-3).

Franklin Regional 10 Armstrong 7

Franklin Regional pounded out 14 hits as the Panthers won a Section 1-5A match up 10-7 at Armstrong. Luke Williams, Liam Bernadowski, Anthony Mitchell and Tim Pirone all had two hits and two RBIs for the Panthers (11-3, 5-2) who trailed 6-5 after three innings. Williams and Bernadowski each homered. Caden Andyka homered and Kaden Rupp doubled and had two RBIs for the Riverhawks (3-10, 2-7). Mitchell tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief striking out eight batters.

Plum 10 Kiski Area 0 (5 inn.)

Plum's Braden Kemmerer tossed a two-hit shutout as the Mustangs dismantled Kiski Area 10-0 in a five-inning Section 1-5A game. Bryce Bowman and Lucas Klimkowski supplied the pair of hits for the Cavaliers (3-7, 3-4). Timothy Ruggierio tripled and drove in two runs for Plum (12-1, 6-1).

Penn-Trafford 13 Penn Hills 3 (6 inn.)

Tanner DeStefano finished 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs as Penn-Trafford earned a 13-3, six-inning victory against Penn Hills in Section 1-5A play. In addition to DeStefano, Logan Matrisch also had three hits and knocked in three runs for the Warriors (9-4, 5-2). Zach Feldman added two hits and scored four times. Dom Delio picked up the win on the mound allowing one unearned run in four innings of work. He struck out seven batters. Dontae Giddens singled and drove in a run for the Indians (0-9, 0-9).

Freeport 12 Burrell 4

Burrell was ahead of first place Freeport 4-3 after four innings but the Yellowjackets tied it with a single tally in the fifth then erupted for six runs in the sixth and eventually took a 12-4 victory over the Bucs in Section 3-3A action. Brayden Mell and Parker Logut each recorded two hits and a run scored for the Bucs (7-6, 5-4). Logut also drove in a run. Kason Barker went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and four runs scored for Freeport (11-0, 7-0).

Ligonier Valley 7 Yough 1

Ligonier Valley plated five runs over the final two innings to pull away and secure a 7-1 triumph at Yough in a Section 3-3A showdown. Noah Knupp had two hits, an RBI and scored three times for the Rams (5-7, 2-5). Owen Smith walked three times and came around to score twice. Jake Williams put up two hits for the Cougars (7-4, 3-3) while Tyler Burkett drove in their only run. Austin Harr allowed one run on six hits while striking out three and walking none in a complete game victory.

Mount Pleasant 22 Southmoreland 0 (3 inn.)

Mount Pleasant exploded for 22 runs on 20 hits in just three innings in a 22-0 lopsided Section 3-3A victory at Southmoreland. Santino Marne notched four hits, including a double, three RBIs and three runs scored for the Vikings (9-4, 6-2). Bobby Smithnosky homered and finished with three hits, four RBIs and scored three times. Ian Shipley hit a grand slam and drove in five. Peyton Bann recorded the lone hit for the Scotties (1-12, 1-7). Jordan Grieff was the winning pitcher.

Greensburg Central Catholic 18 Avella 5

Tyler Samide finished 5-for-6 with two doubles and a home run to power Greensburg Central Catholic to an 18-5 drubbing of Avella in Section 1-1A. Anthony Grippo added two doubles and four RBIs for the Centurions (7-0, 6-0) while Carson Kramer had four hits and four RBIs. Bryce Wright doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Eagles (10-4, 7-2) who, despite the lopsided loss, are still in first place in the section.

Jeannette 15 West Greene 0 (6 inn.)

Amari Thomas went 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs leading Jeannette to a 15-0 shutout of West Greene in a Section 1-1A contest. In addition to Thomas, Zion Harper had two hits and two RBIs while Noah Rattigan walked three times for the Jayhawks (6-6, 2-5). Wyatt Schaeffer was the wining pitcher as he tossed a five-inning no-hitter. The Pioneers are now (2-9, 2-5).
