Norwin 12 Woodland Hills 0 (5 inn.)
Caden Sivrich hit a three-run homer and Jake Knight tossed a five-inning shutout as Norwin took down Woodland Hills 12-0 in a Section 2-6A game. In addition to Sivrich, Ryan Helphenstine went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Knights while Liam O'Donnell tripled, drove in a pair and scored twice. Woodland Hills drops to (4-4, 0-4).
Butler 5 Hempfield Area 0
Hempfield Area managed just two hits in a 5-0 non-section loss at Butler. Nolan Stefaniak started and struck out nine batters in four hitless innings for the Golden Tornado (8-3, 4-2). Trent Best surrendered no runs in three innings of relief. Jacob Szbalskie had two hits and scored twice. Ian Kovalcik and Lukas Murray had the lone hits for the Spartans (4-7, 2-4).
Franklin Regional 10 Greater Latrobe 5
Franklin Regional plated eight runs in the fifth inning to defeat Greater Latrobe 10-5 in a Section 1-5A battle. Trailing 5-2 through four innings the Panthers rallied for the eight-run fifth in which Lucas Brazel came up with the biggest hit a three-run double. Anthony Mitchell batted twice in the frame producing a RBI double and a two-run single. Mitchell finished with three hits while Brazel had two and four RBIs for Franklin Regional (9-2, 4-1). Joey Crimboli and Joe Razza each collected two hits for the Wildcats (9-2, 5-2) while Josh Short drove in three runs on a bases loaded triple. Nico Fioravanti allowed five earned runs in five innings but earned the win on the mound.
Kiski Area 17 Armstrong 5 (5 inn.)
Kiski Area explded for 10 runs in the fourth inning in a route of Armstrong, 17-5 in Section 1-5A. John DeLuca went 4-for-4, including a double and four RBIs to power the Cavaliers (2-6, 2-3). Zach Hald homered and drove in four while Lucas Klimkowski had two hits, including a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored for KA. Liam Badac had two hits and scored twice for the Riverhawks (3-8, 2-5). Henry Krogh was the winning pitcher.
Trinity 12 Penn-Trafford 11
Penn-Trafford couldn't hold a late lead, losing to Trinity 12-11 in a non-section clash. The Warriors were in front 10-7 going into the bottom of the sixth inning but the Hillers scored five runs in the frame to take the lead and capture the win. Tanner DeStefano had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for the Warriors. Colton Tyburski added three hits, including a double, and two runs scored. Derek Falvo had two doubles and four RBIs to lead Trinity (3-8, 2-4).
Belle Vernon 9 Elizabeth Forward 3
Belle Vernon erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 9-3 Section 2-4A triumph over Elizabeth Forward. N Kostelnik was the catalyst for the big inning as he lined a bases loaded double to center field to drive in all three runners. Chace Peterosky added a pair of RBIs for the Leopards (8-2, 6-1). J.B. Crovak doubled and recorded two hits for the Warriors (6-3, 4-1). Ian Porter pitched all seven innings to earn the victory. He struck out nine.
Valley 6 Knoch 1
Nikolas Heakins had three hits and Dante Taliani drove in two runs as Valley picked up a 6-1 victory over Knoch in Section 3-4A. Julian Danko was the winning pitcher for the Vikings (9-2, 4-1) as he allowed just one run on six hits in five innings. Dante Pelloni had two hits for the Knights (9-3, 2-1).
Derry Area 4 Highlands 1
Derry Area scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away from Highlands and earn a 4-1 victory in Section 3-4A. Cason Long had the go-ahead hit in the frame as he tripled in Anthony Sacco. Donovan Trimble and Noah Stough also drove in runs in the frame for the Trojans (5-5, 2-3). Logan Lattus recorded two hits for the Golden Rams (0-10, 0-5). Max Doherty allowed only one run in six innings for the win. He struck out five. Long came in for the save.
Indiana 18 Greensburg Salem 6 (6 inn.)
Greensburg Salem dropped its sixth consecutive game, losing to Indiana 18-6 in six innings in Section 3-4A action. Zack Smith had two hits and scored twice for the Golden Lions (1-7, 0-3) while Robert Visnick brought in two runs. Charlie Manzi clubbed two home runs for the Indians (7-1, 5-0).
Mount Pleasant 10 Yough 2 WATCH BROADCAST
Ian Shipley went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Mount Pleasant past Yough 10-2 in a Section 3-3A tilt. Carter Urban collected three hits and drove in a run for the Vikings (7-4, 5-2) while Colten Keefer went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Jordan Grieff yielded two unearned runs and four hits in a complete game victory. Tyler Burkett drove in a run for the Cougars (6-3, 3-2). Yough grounded into a triple play in the fourth inning.
Greensburg Central Catholic 10 Carmichaels 2
Tyler Samide belted a grand slam and was the winning pitcher as Greensburg Central Catholic upended Carmichaels 10-2 in a Section 1-1A clash. Samide drove in five runs total for the Centurions (5-0, 5-0) while Stephen Kochis and Carson Kramer had two hits apiece. Kramer drove in two runs and Kochis scored twice. Samide struck out 12 batters in a complete game victory. Ryder Krieg knocked in a run for the Mighty Mikes (5-5, 4-3).
Avella 6 Jeannette 4
Jeannette outhit Avella 11-7 but still lost a Section 1-1A match up 6-4 to the Eagles. Amari Thomas collected three hits, including a double, for the Jayhawks (5-5, 1-4). Noah Rattigan and Evyn Yargeau each finished with two hits while Rattigan scored two runs. Tristan Davis had two hits for Avella (9-2, 6-1).
