Seneca Valley 47 Hempfield Area 8 - WATCH BROADCAST
Hempfield Area was overwhelmed in a 47-8 home defeat against Seneca Valley in a Class 6A matchup. Cayden Parker rushed for 163 yards and two scores for the Raiders (3-5, 1-3), while QB Andrew Loebig rushed for 95 yards and a score and added 82 yards and another touchdown through the air. Jack Kopas hauled in five passes for 74 yards and the only touchdown for the Spartans (4-4, 1-4).
Penn-Trafford 48 Franklin Regional 14 - WATCH BROADCAST
Ben Grabowski proved explosive in leading Penn-Trafford to a convincing 48-14 win at Franklin Regional in Class 5A Big East Conference play. Grabowski registered four carries for 172 yard and three scores for the Warriors (7-1, 3-1). Nate Desmond was 9-of-14 passing for 145 yards and a score for the Warriors, while Nick Ponko snagged five receptions for 79 yards and a TD. Kaydon Ferrell and Jet Taylor scored touchdowns for the Panthers (1-7, 0-4).
Southmoreland 14 Mount Pleasant Area 0 - WATCH BROADCAST
Cam Lee returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown and a few minutes later, Averyon Darnell scored on a five-yard plunge and that was all the scoring as Southmoreland topped Mount Pleasant 14-0 in an Interstate Conference defensive showdown. The Scotties (8-0, 3-0) forced three turnovers and limited the Vikings (5-3, 2-1) to just 103 total yards while Southmoreland was limited to only 151 yards of total offense. The Scotties victory sets up a clash with Elizabeth Forward next week for first place in the conference.
Derry Area 43 Greensburg Salem 28 - WATCH BROADCAST
With Max Doherty scored four times, Derry Area bested homestanding Greensburg Salem 43-28 in the Class 3A Interstate Conference battle. Doherty notched 23 attempts spanning 125 yards, while Trojans (4-4, 1-2) signal-caller Anthony Sacco went 5-of-7 for 162 yards and a pair of scores. Karsen Weiers caught both of those TDs, as he totaled three catches for 142 yards. LeTrey Derry produced three scores for the Golden Lions (2-6, 0-3), a pair of rushing scores and an 87-yard kickoff return, while Brody Chismar passed for 182 yards and a score and rushed for 57 yards.
Kiski Area 27 Armstrong 25
Landyn Artman propelled Kiski Area to a 27-25 home victory against Armstrong in the Class 5A Big East Conference. The Cavaliers QB compiled 289 yards through the air and two TDs, with Aven and Teegan Shirley each on the receiving end of a score. Ashton Taylor added two rushing scores for the Cavs (4-4, 3-2). Quinn Olson provided an 86-yard kickoff return for the River Hawks (3-5, 2-2).
Belle Vernon Area 48 Laurel Highlands 6
Curty Wade used his legs to carry Belle Vernon Area to a dominant 48-6 win at Laurel Highlands in Class 4A Big Six Conference play. Wade posted 101 yards and three scores on the ground, while Chace Petrosky added two rushing TDs for the Leopards (2-5, 1-2).
Highlands 42 Burrell 21
Despite prolific performances from Antonio Perkins and Trey Coury, Burrell sustained a 42-21 home loss against Highlands in Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference action. Perkins notched 29 carries for 155 yards, while Coury amassed 25 rushes for 150 yards for the Buccaneers (3-5, 2-2). Tevin Owen-Cratsenberg was the catalyst for the Golden Rams (5-3, 4-1), as he rushed for 318 yards.
Elizabeth Forward 55 Yough 7
Yough had no answer for Ryan Messina, who threw for four TD passes in leading Elizabeth Forward to a lopsided 55-7 win against the Cougars in the Class 3A Interstate Conference. Messina went 6-of-8 for 145 yards for the Warriors (7-1, 3-0). Aidan Shaffer connected with Ryan Sarver on a 70-yard TD for the lone score for the Cougars (2-6, 0-3), as Sarver compiled five receptions for 94 yards.
East Allegheny 16 Valley 10
Valley could not contain Chris Portis, who sparked East Allegheny to a 16-10 victory in the Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference. Portis had a 12-yard TD reception and a 50-yard punt return score for the Wildcats (2-6, 2-3). The Vikings (0-8, 0-4) only TD came on a connection from Skylar Lincoln to Raymond Loury.
South Park 42 Ligonier Valley 21
Despite a big effort by Levi Foust, Ligonier Valley suffered a 42-21 loss at home against South Park in Class 2A Allegheny Conference action. Foust compiled 122 yards and two scores on the ground for the Rams (1-7, 0-4), while Quintin Napper had two rushing scores and a kickoff return TD for the Eagles (4-4, 1-3).
Jeannette 23 Brentwood 18
With Kymon’e Brown leading the way, Jeannette edged Brentwood 23-18 in a Class 1A Eastern Conference showdown. Brown amassed 149 yards passing and a score, and he rushed for 128 yards and another TD on the ground for the host Jayhawks (5-3, 3-2). Spartans (2-5, 1-3) quarterback Cedric Davis threw for 102 yards and a score and registered 128 yards and another score as a rusher.
Greensburg Central Catholic 52 Springdale 14
Greensburg Central Catholic was dominant in a 52-14 win at home against Springdale in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. Samir Crosby notched two rushing touchdowns, posted a TD reception, and also threw a score for the Centurions (4-4, 2-3), who led 45-0 at the half.
Pine-Richland 43 Greater Latrobe 7
Greater Latrobe was overmatched in a 43-7 home loss to Pine-Richland in a Class 5A nonconference tilt. The Rams (7-1) were paced by Khalil Taylor, who caught a pair of TD passes and returned a punt for another score. Dom Scarton tossed a 49-yard touchdown pass to Sawyer Butina to account for the lone score for the Wildcats (2-6).
