With just three weeks remaining in the WPIAL football regular season, the stretch run has arrived. This week’s ledger includes three all-Westmoreland tilts, and several other games that hold significant postseason implications. Here’s a detailed breakdown of every game across the county in Week Seven.

Seneca Valley (2-5, 0-3) at Hempfield Area (4-3, 1-3) – 7 p.m.

About the Raiders: Seneca Valley fell 33-29 at Canon-McMillan in Class 6A play last week. Caden Parker had a big game for the Raiders, as he rushed 21 times for 112 yards and a score, and he added five receptions for 27 yards and another TD. Quarterback Andrew Loebig went 11-of-20 through the air for 106 yards, with three TDs and one interception. For the year, Loebig has amassed 1,124 yards on 84-of-136 passes, with 14 touchdowns and three interceptions. Parker has posted 104 carries for 322 yards, caught 19 passes, and has notched a team-high five touchdowns. Adam Gehm is the top receiver with 22 grabs for 217 yards. The Raiders permit 36.4 points per game, the worst mark in the classification. Don Barclay, a former NFL player, is in his first season at the helm of Seneca Valley.

About the Spartans: Hempfield Area held a second-half lead, but Norwin scored 19 unanswered points to edge the Spartans 33-26 in a Class 6A showdown last Friday. In the defeat, Dom Detruf went 21-of-35 passing for 325 yards, with three TDs and three picks for the Spartans. In the process, Detruf surpassed Justin Sliwoski to become the Spartans’ career passing yardage and passing TDs leader. Jack Kopas had a monster performance with a dozen catches for 146 yards and a score, while Henry Mutschler posted six grabs for 145 yards and a touchdown. On the campaign, Detruf has gone 109-of-155 for 1,577 yards, with 17 TDs and nine interceptions, and he’s rushed 51 times for 204 yards. Kopas has snagged 38 receptions for 504 yards, pacing the Spartans with eight scores, while Mutschler has accumulated 22 catches for 364 yards.

About the Matchup: While the Raiders are the lone winless team remaining in Class 6A play, the Spartans are tied for fifth with Mount Lebanon. Last year, Seneca Valley prevailed 27-15.

Penn-Trafford (6-1, 2-1) at Franklin Regional (1-6, 0-3) – 7 p.m.

About the Warriors: Overcoming a 23-7 halftime deficit, Penn-Trafford notched a 33-23 home win against Gateway in Class 5A Big East Conference action last week. Ben Grabowski rushed 17 times for 147 yards and two TDs for the Warriors, while Nico Casciato notched an 89-yard kickoff return score. Jack Miller also booted a 36-yard field goal for PT, while Travis Moorhead capped the scoring by recovering a fumble in the end zone for a TD. In 2025, Cody Yacamelli leads PT with 500 yards rushing and 10 total scores, while Grabowski has registered 80 carries for 478 yards and six TDs. Signalcaller Nate Desmond has hit on 64-of-111 throws for 1,015 yards, with four touchdowns and four picks. Nick Ponko paces the Warriors with 30 receptions for 477 yards. About the Panthers: With Jake Pucka taking over at quarterback, Franklin Regional notched its first win last Friday, a 21-10 home triumph against Fox Chapel Area in a Class 5A nonconference affair. Pucka threw for 148 yards and a score, sparking the Panthers to overcome a 10-0 halftime deficit. Jet Taylor added 23 carries for 54 yards and a score, while Jaymier Austin hauled in three receptions for 71 yards. On the season, Taylor has 136 attempts spanning 548 yards and four scores, while Tyrone Leonard has produced 14 receptions for 136 yards. The Panthers average 13.7 points per game, the lowest mark among teams in the conference.

About the Matchup: While PT is tied for second in the Class 5A Big East Conference, Franklin Regional is the only team yet to secure a conference win. Last season, the Warriors reigned supreme, 26-10.

Derry Area (3-4, 0-2) at Greensburg Salem (2-5, 0-2) – 7 p.m.

About the Trojans: Derry Area was overwhelmed early in a 56-7 loss at Elizabeth Forward in the Class 3A Interstate Conference last Friday. Anthony Sacco’s 1-yard run accounted for the lone score for the Trojans. For the season, Max Doherty has rushed 141 times for 835 yards, reaching the end zone 11 times. Sacco has gone 36-of-88 passing for 479 yards, with four TDs and seven interceptions.

About the Golden Lions: Greensburg Salem dropped a 42-29 outcome to Mount Pleasant Area in a Class 3A Interstate Conference showdown last Friday. After missing the previous week, Brody Chismar returned for the Golden Lions and hit on 13-of-23 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns, adding two rushing scores. Max Topper caught four passes for 95 yards and a TD for Greensburg Salem. On the season, Chismar has gone 64-of-119 passing for 919 yards, with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions, while he’s rushed 102 times for 324 yards. Topper has 22 receptions spanning 309 yards and four scores. The Golden Lions permit 33.7 points per game, the most among teams in the conference.

About the Matchup: After two weeks of Class 3A Interstate Conference play, both the Trojans and Golden Lions are in pursuit of their first conference victory. In 2024, Greensburg Salem whitewashed Derry Area 28-0.

Mount Pleasant Area (5-2, 2-0) at Southmoreland (7-0, 2-0) – 7 p.m.

About the Vikings: Mount Pleasant Area overcame an early deficit, besting Greensburg Salem 42-29 in a Class 3A Interstate Conference showdown one week ago. Stephen Predajna compiled 20 carries for 141 yards and a score for the Vikings, while quarterback Dane Firmstone rushed for 92 yards and a score and added a passing touchdown. Brady Brooks snagged a 55-yard TD reception and also contributed a 63-yard touchdown run. To this point of the season, Predajna has accumulated 77 carries for 444 yards, scoring eight times. Richard Shawley has added 384 yards on the ground, and Kaden Hudec has racked up 257 rushing yards. The Vikings have outpaced their foes 217-154 on the year.

About the Scotties: With head coach Dustin Shoaf making his return to alma mater, Southmoreland rolled to a 41-0 victory at Yough in the Class 3A Interstate Conference one week ago. Jackson Mickens rushed four times for 101 yards and two scores for the Scotties, while QB Dawson Wolfe went 4-of-11 for 103 yards, with one score and one interception. Averyon Darnell and Cam Lee added rushing scores for Southmoreland. In 2025, Wolfe has hit on 59-of-103 throws for 841 yards, with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions, and he’s also rushed 72 times for 269 yards and seven scores. Mickens has posted 388 yards rushing and a team-high 10 TDs. Makel Darnell paces the Scotties with 21 receptions for 245 yards. Southmoreland holds a scoring advantage of 259-49 on the season.

About the Matchup: The Vikings and Scotties are two of the three teams that are 2-0 in the Class 3A Intestate Conference. One year ago, Southmoreland prevailed 28-7.

Armstrong (3-4, 2-1) at Kiski Area (3-4, 2-2) – 7 p.m.

About the River Hawks: Armstrong was on the wrong end of a 50-14 score at home against Woodland Hills in Class 5A Big East Conference action one week ago. In the defeat, quarterback Jaydon Oliver completed 19-of-34 throws for 180 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions. Quinn Olsen hauled in nine receptions for 74 yards, while Xavier Williams had four receptions for 59 yards. For the year, Oliver has thrown for 873 yards, with three scores and three picks, and he’s also posted 252 yards rushing. Olsen has compiled 54 receptions, which leads the WPIAL by a wide margin, for 673 yards, scoring seven times. Costa Couknas anchors the rushing attack with 131 carries for 626 yards and seven touchdowns. The River Hawks are under the guidance of longtime head coach Frank Fabian.

About the Cavaliers: In his return from injury, Landyn Artman enjoyed a breakthrough performance to lead Kiski Area to a 34-13 home win against Greater Latrobe in the Class 5A Big East Conference. Artman went 12-of-20 passing for 273 yards and five touchdowns for the Cavaliers. Teegan Shirley was on the receiving end of two of those scoring connections, while Andrew Finney, Aven Shirley, and Collin Peterson also had touchdown receptions. Despite missing time with injury, Artman has gone 46-of-91 passing for 766 yards, with 11 TDs and two interceptions. Aven Shirley leads KA with 269 yards rushing and six total TDs, while Teegan Shirley has compiled 18 catches for 344 yards. In their three wins, the Cavs have permitted just 20 combined points, but they’ve surrendered 34 or more points in each of their setbacks.

About the Matchup: While Armstrong is tied for second place in the Class 5A Big East Conference, Kiski Area resides in a tie for fourth. Last year, the Cavs claimed a 21-14 victory.

Belle Vernon Area (1-5, 0-2) at Laurel Highlands (2-5, 0-2) – 7 p.m.

About the Leopards: Chartiers Valley scored a touchdown and subsequent two-point conversion in the closing seconds to hand Belle Vernon Area a heartbreaking 36-35 loss in the Class 4A Big Six Conference last Friday. Chace Petrosky had a massive performance for the Leopards, as he rushed for a record-setting 339 yards and four touchdowns. Boosted by his big performance last week, Petrosky has amassed 74 carries for 537 yards, scoring five times. Quarterback Curty Wade has gone 54-of-83 for 702 yards, but with three TDs and six interceptions, while he’s also rushed for 251 yards and four TDs. The Leps, who have lost four in a row, have been outscored by a margin of 162-91 on the season.

About the Mustangs: Laurel Highlands fell 47-7 at Ringgold last week in a Class 4A Big Six Conference matchup. Marion Jones accounted for the lone score for the Mustangs, a 62-yard run. On the season, QB Gabriel Centofanti has completed 27-of-51 throws for 250 yards, with two scores and five interceptions. Joshua Reed is the top receiver, with a dozen catches for 106 yards. During their five-game skid, the Mustangs have scored seven or fewer points in each game. Coach Aaron Raffle patrols the sidelines for Laurel Highlands.

About the Matchup: Both BVA and Laurel Highlands are seeking their initial win in the Class 4A Big Six Conference. Last year, the Leopards rolled to a 47-10 win.

Elizabeth Forward (6-1, 2-0) at Yough (2-5, 0-2) – 7 p.m.

About the Warriors: Elizabeth Forward overwhelmed Derry Area in a 56-7 home victory in the Class 3A Interstate Conference last week. Ryan Messina tossed three TD passes and ran for another for the Warriors, who led 42-0 at the half. Through seven contests, Messina has hit on 96-of-137 throws for 1,450 yards, with 15 TDs and two interceptions, while he’s contributed 71 carries for 493 yards and eight scores as a runner. Six Warriors have 10 or more catches, highlighted by Landon Honick, who has 28 grabs for 393 yards and four touchdowns. John DeMarco serves at the helm of EF.

About the Cougars: With former Cougar Dustin Shoaf making his return to alma mater, Southmoreland rolled to a 41-0 victory at Yough in the Class 3A Interstate Conference last week. In the loss, Aidan Shaffer went 4-of-12 passing for 27 yards and an interception, while he rushed eight times for 45 yards. The Cougars have been shut out three times during their five-game skid. On the season, John Gergely paces Yough with 95 rushes for 423 yards, while Ryan Sarver leads the way with 24 catches for 240 yards. The Cougars have been outscored 245-76 on the year.

About the Matchup: While Elizabeth Forward is one of three teams unblemished in Class 3A Interstate Conference play, Yough is among the three winless squads in conference action. In 2024, the Warriors claimed a lopsided 45-7 victory.

Highlands (4-3, 3-1) at Burrell (3-4, 2-1) – 7 p.m.

About the Golden Rams: Highlands scored a thrilling 28-27 overtime victory at Freeport Area last week in the Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference. Tevin Owen-Cratsenberg had a massive performance, as he rushed 33 times for 261 yards and all four TDs. On the campaign, Owen-Cratsenberg has 129 carries spanning 754 yards, and he’s registered 15 total scores. Quarterback Jamarkus Prager has gone 44-of-90 for 615 yards, with two TDs and five interceptions. Darai Carter is the top pass catcher, as he’s snagged 15 receptions for 117 yards. Despite the winning record, the Golden Rams have been narrowly outscored, 164-157. Coach Matt Bonislawski guides Highlands.

About the Buccaneers: Antonio Perkins had an epic performance to lead Burrell to a 41-21 triumph against Valley in the Battle of the Bypass in the Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference last Friday. Perkins compiled 303 yards rushing and four scores on the ground for the Buccaneers. Trey Coury added 159 yards and a pair of TDs for Burrell. Through seven tilts, Perkins has rushed 133 times for 1,061 yards and scored 16 touchdowns, while also compiling 593 yards through the air. Coury has contributed 105 carries for 449 yards, scoring four times.

About the Matchup: Highlands is tied for second place in the Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference, while Burrell sits alone in fourth. Last year, the Golden Rams dominated 61-0. Burrell head coach Dom Girardi previously guided Highlands.

Valley (0-7, 0-3) at East Allegheny (1-6, 1-3) – 7 p.m.

About the Vikings: Valley could not contain Antonio Perkins, who had an epic performance to lead Burrell to a 41-21 triumph in the Battle of the Bypass in the Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference last Friday. In the defeat for the Vikings, Brendon Knuckles tossed a pair of scores to Sean Wilkerson. Valley has been outscored by a total of 285-58 this campaign.

About the Wildcats: East Allegheny suffered a lopsided 61-0 defeat on the road against Imani Christian in a Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference game last week. On the year, Wildcats QB Cedric Mack has gone 77-of-136 for 1,075 yards, with 11 TDs and four interceptions. Ronte Lawrence and Tanner Loya are tied for the team lead with four touchdowns apiece. EA has been outscored 281-103 this year. Frank Cortazzo serves as the head coach of East Allegheny.

South Park (3-4, 0-3) at Ligonier Valley (1-6, 0-3) – 7 p.m.

About the Eagles: South Park suffered a narrow 14-13 loss last week at home against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in a Class 2A Allegheny Conference clash. Eagles quarterback Robert Lenzi hit on 6-of-10 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown, and he added 30 yards rushing and another score. For the year, Lenzi has completed 37-of-88 throws for 584 yards, with six TDs and four interceptions, and he’s posted 68 carries for 262 yards, scoring five times. Quintin Napper leads the ground attack with 74 carries spanning 462 yards, and he’s found paydirt six times. During their four-game skid, the Eagles have scored just 34 points total. Head coach Brian Abbey patrols the sidelines for South Park.

About the Rams: Ligonier Valley snapped its winless streak in emphatic fashion, as the Rams pummeled Charleroi 67-13 in a Class 2A nonconference clash at Weller Field last Friday. Two Rams surpassed 100 yards rushing in the win, as Levi Foust had eight carries for 113 yards and two scores, while Brody Stitt added eight rushes for 109 yards and a TD. Gregory Sleasman notched two interception return touchdowns, while Greyson Daugherty caught three passes for 50 yards and a TD. On the year, Foust has passed for 327 yards, with three TDs and six picks, and he leads LV with 69 carries for 435 yards. Daugherty is the top option in the passing game, as he boasts 25 catches for 342 yards. Prior to last week’s explosion, LV had not topped 14 points in a game this year.

About the Matchup: South Park and Ligonier Valley are currently deadlocked in last place in the Class 2A Allegheny Conference. A year ago, the Eagles prevailed 33-0 enroute to a WPIAL championship.

Brentwood (3-4, 2-2) at Jeannette (4-3, 2-2) – 7 p.m.

About the Spartans: Brentwood claimed a 27-14 win at home against Riverview last week in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. Quarterback Cedric Davis accounted for all four TDs, as he rushed 23 times for 200 yards, while also adding 74 yards through the air. For the year, Davis has completed 49-of-103 throws for 780 yards, with seven TDs and eight interceptions, while he’s amassed 83 carries for 668 yards and nine touchdowns. Daysaun Spencer leads the Spartans with 19 catches for 336 yards, scoring six times. Brentwood is under the guidance of head man Nick Caponi.

About the Jayhawks: With Kymon’e Brown serving as catalyst, homestanding Jeannette knocked off Greensburg Central Catholic 37-22 in a Class 1A Eastern Conference battle last Friday. Brown compiled 143 yards and two scores on the ground, and he passed for 144 yards and two more touchdowns through the air for the Jayhawks. Jayce Powell snagged three receptions for 65 yards for Jeannette. To this point of the season, Brown has connected on 57-of-128 passing attempts for 1,098 yards, with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions, and he also leads Jeannette with 72 carries for 633 yards, scoring 11 times. Powell has registered 27 catches for 563 yards, scoring seven total TDs. Jeannette has outscored its foes 214-185.

About the Matchup: The Spartans and Jayhawks are among three squads deadlocked in third place in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. Last year, Jeannette edged Brentwood 42-41 in an instant classic.

Springdale (0-5, 0-3) at Greensburg Central Catholic (3-4, 1-3) – 7 p.m.

About the Dynamos: Springdale was overmatched in a 51-0 loss at Clairton last week in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. Will Fowler led the Dynamos with 10 carries for 35 yards in the whitewash. Springdale, which had to postpone its game against Leechburg two weeks ago, has been outpaced 234-28 on the year. Coach Chad Walsh is guiding the program.

About the Centurions: Greensburg Central Catholic fell 37-22 against rival Jeannette in a Class 1A Eastern Conference battle last Friday. In the loss, Samir Crosby posted a prolific outing for the Centurions, as he rushed for 211 yards and a TD, and shifted to QB in the second half and threw for 137 yards and another touchdown. Bobby Smithnosky, who moved from quarterback to receiver, caught four passes for 96 yards and a TD and also found paydirt on a touchdown run. Despite missing a game with injury, Crosby has posted 56 carries for 569 yards, caught 17 passes for 234 yards, and scored 10 total TDs. Smithnosky has completed 46-of-75 attempts for 577 yards, with seven TDs and four interceptions.

About the Matchup: While Springdale is the lone winless team in Class 1A Eastern Conference action, GCC is tied for sixth place. Last year, the Centurions dominated 51-0 in a game played at Burrell High School.

Monessen (4-3, 1-2) at Burgettstown (1-5, 0-3) – 7 p.m.

About the Greyhounds: Monessen suffered a 37-18 home loss to Chartiers-Houston in the Class 1A Black Hills Conference last week. Rodney Johnson had a pair of touchdowns for the Greyhounds. Tavian Taylor leads Monessen with 70 carries for 547 yards and nine TDs.

About the Blue Devils: Burgettstown fell at Neshannock 34-7 last week in a Class 1A Black Hills Conference clash. Brady Rightweiser had 15 carries for 71 yards and the only score, while Blake Neal threw for 107 yards but two interceptions. On the year, Colton County leads the Blue Devils with 81 carries for 300 yards. Burgettstown, which has lost six games in a row, is under the guidance of coach Mark Druga.

Pine-Richland (6-1) at Greater Latrobe (2-5) – 7 p.m.

About the Rams: Pine-Richland blasted Penn Hills 63-19 last week in a Class 5A Northeast Conference meeting. Aaron “Oobi” Strader went 6-of-11 passing for 76 yards and two scores, while he rushed five times for 83 yards and two more touchdowns. Khalil Taylor caught two passes for 26 yards and two scores, and he added a 47-yard kickoff return touchdown. For the season, Strader has thrown for 1,426 yards and 19 touchdowns. Maclane Miller has accrued 778 yards rushing and 10 TDs, while Taylor paces the Rams with a dozen touchdowns. Jalen Neals leads PR with 23 catches for 336 yards. The Rams average 48.1 points per game. Decorated coach Jon LeDonne leads Pine-Richland.

About the Wildcats: Greater Latrobe could not slow down Landyn Artman, who led Kiski Area to a 34-13 home win against the Wildcats in the Class 5A Big East Conference last Friday. In the defeat for GL, Chris Cochran had a 10-yard TD run, and Ty Wisniewski hooked up with Aaron Gaskey on a 19-yard score. On the year, QB Dom Scarton has completed 58-of-123 throws for 633 yards, with two TDs and six interceptions. Sawyer Butina and Gaskey are tied for the team lead with 15 receptions. The Wildcats have dropped three games in a row.

About the Matchup: This is a Class 5A nonconference game, as the Rams play in the Northeast Conference, while the Wildcats compete in the Big East Conference. A year ago, Pine-Richland rolled to a 42-0 win.
