Ben Grabowski, playing at QB, went 9-of-11 passing for 154 yards, with four TDs and one interception for the Warriors (4-0, 1-0). Nick Ponko contributed five receptions for 110 yards and two TDs, and he added a pick-six in the blowout. Landyn Stikkel contributed a fumble recovery score for PT. Jaydin Brooks led the Panthers (0-4, 0-1) with 52 yards on 18 carries.

Mount Pleasant 31 Derry Area 20 - WATCH BROADCAST

Mount Pleasant Area’s passing game came to life, helping the homestanding Vikings capture a 31-20 win against Derry Area in the Class 3A Interstate Conference matchup. QB Bobby Smithnosky went 10-of-14 passing for 179 yards and two scores for the Vikings (3-1, 1-0), while Lukas Gonzales caught four passes for 93 yards and a score, and Noah DeWitt hauled in five passes for 70 yards and a TD. In the setback, Max Doherty rushed for 113 yards and a pair of TDs for the Trojans (2-2, 0-1), while Anthony Sacco went 9-of-21 passing for 78 yards and a score.

Southmoreland 42 Greensburg Salem 34 - WATCH BROADCAST

Keyed by 28 straight points, Southmoreland outlasted host Greensburg Salem 42-34 in the Class 3A Interstate Conference opener. Dawson Wolfe registered 147 yards on the ground and four scores for the Scotties (2-2, 1-0), and he also passed for 107 yards. Additionally, Dylan Brown compiled 106 yards and a TD on the ground, while Brock Geho caught five passes for 85 yards. Brody Chismar had another robust performance in the setback for Greensburg Salem (0-4, 0-1), as he hit 27-of-40 passes for 371 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 79 yards and another touchdown. Brandt Sandstrom hauled in eight receptions spanning 131 yards and a score, Braydon Miller posted eight catches for 97 yards and a TD, and Chris Berger caught seven passes for 87 yards.

North Allegheny 14 Hempfield Area 7

A touchdown in the final minute proved decisive, as Hempfield Area sustained a 14-7 loss at North Allegheny in a Class 6A clash. NA quarterback Brady Brinkley connected with Ben Kern for a 13-yard TD with 48 seconds left, approximately three minutes after the Spartans pulled even. Andrew Bentz hauled in three passes for 70 yards, and he also rushed for 30 yards and the lone score for the Spartans (1-3, 0-1). Meanwhile, Carden Lippmann went 13-of-28 through the air for 219 yards but with two interceptions. Brinkley led the Tigers (1-3, 1-0), passing for 177 yards and two scores, while adding 15 carries for 48 yards on the ground.

Pittsburgh Central Catholic 54 Norwin 17

Norwin was unable to contain the explosive offense of Pittsburgh Central Catholic, as the host Vikings rolled 54-17 in the Class 6A opener. Max Ritz threw for 195 yards in the setback for the Knights (2-2, 0-1), while Potter Brozeski and Garrett Natale found paydirt. Owen Herrick led the charge for the Vikings (4-0, 1-0), as he threw for three touchdowns, all to Connor Melnik, while Chrys Black Jr added a pair of scores, including a punt return TD.

Greater Latrobe 24 Gateway 7

Greater Latrobe claimed a key win the Class 5A Big East Conference, knocking off homestanding Gateway 24-7. AJ Yeboah compiled 84 yards rushing and a score for the Wildcats (3-1, 1-0), while Dom Scarton threw for 74 yards and a score to Connor Donahue. Drew Blossey also found paydirt for GL. In the defeat for the Gators (2-2, 0-1), Mayson Mitchell went 13-of-28 passing for 158 yards and a TD.

Deer Lakes 50 Valley 13

Valley had no answer for Roman Smith, who carried Deer Lakes to a 50-13 win against the Vikings in a Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference battle. Smith posted 15 carries for 156 yards and five TDS for the Lancers (1-3, 1-0). Sean Wilkerson amassed 141 yards rushing for the Vikings (2-2, 0-1), while Devell McWright returned an interception for a touchdown.

Ligonier Valley 56 Charleroi 20

Levi Foust proved dynamic once again, as Ligonier Valley stayed perfect in a 56-20 triumph against Charleroi in the initial Class 2A Allegheny Conference battle. Foust rushed for 152 yards and two scores, and he added 99 yards and two more TDs through the air for the Rams (4-0, 1-0). Gregory Sleasman caught two touchdown passes and also scored twice on the ground for LV. For the Cougars (2-2, 0-1), Jaxson Klinger threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Jeannette 42 Springdale 0

Anthony Stuchell factored into touchdowns three different ways in leading Jeannette to a lopsided 42-0 victory against Springdale in the Class 1A Eastern Conference lid lifter. Stuchell passed for a score, rushed for a TD, and also had an interception return score for the host Jayhawks (3-1, 1-0). The Jayhawks defense, meanwhile, blanked the Dynamos (1-2, 0-1).

Monessen 14 Fort Cherry 12

Bolstered by four takeaways, Monessen edged Fort Cherry 14-12 in a marquee matchup in the Class 1A Black Hills Conference. Jay’veyon Jeffries notched both scores for the Greyhounds (4-0, 1-0).

Kiski Area 21 Ringgold 14 OT

Ashton Taylor’s touchdown run proved the difference in overtime, as Kiski Area edged Ringgold 21-14 in a nonconference showdown. Landyn Artman was a dual-threat for the Cavaliers (1-3), as he threw for 105 yards and a TD, and he added 103 yards and another score on the ground.

Belle Vernon Area 35 Burrell 0

Led by a stellar defense, Belle Vernon Area whitewashed Burrell 35-0 in a nonconference affair. The host Leopards (3-1) limited the Buccaneers to 68 yards on the ground. Jace Gedekoh tossed a pair of scores, and also rushed for a TD, while Luca Ghilani caught five passes for 70 yards, including both of those touchdown passes, and added a fumble recovery score. Antonio Perkins left the game with injury in the third quarter for the Buccaneers (3-1).

Albert Gallatin 42 Yough 11

Despite a big effort from Joe Bibby, Yough sustained a 42-11 loss against Albert Gallatin in a nonconference clash. Bibby hauled in nine passes for 158 yards and a score for the Cougars (0-4). The Colonials (2-2) were led by Gio Guerriere, who compiled 152 yards rushing and two scores on the ground.

Greensburg Central Catholic 28 Bentworth 0

Blase Bugosh was the offensive catalyst, and the defense was stout in Greensburg Central Catholic’s 28-0 triumph against Bentworth in a nonconference game. Bugosh found the end zone twice for the homestanding Centurions (3-1), while Luke Semelka and Tommy Ames also scored. Meanwhile, the GCC defense blanked the Bearcats (2-2).
