Carden Lippmann scored the winning touchdown in overtime, giving Hempfield Area a 38-34 victory against Canon-McMillan in a Class 6A showdown. Lippmann went 21-of-30 passing for 340 yards and three scores, and he rushed 20 times for 87 yards, including the decisive TD. Andrew Bentz caught five passes for 121 yards and two scores for the Spartans (2-3, 1-1), and he also scored a rushing TD, while Lucas Simmons hauled in six passes for 78 yards and a touchdown. Lippmann’s overtime heroics came after the Big Macs (2-3, 1-1) tied the game with 25 seconds left and took the lead on a field goal in OT. Ty Jansma threw for 180 yards and two scores in the defeat, Roman Cimarolli caught four balls for 113 yards and two TDs, and Bryce Collins rushed for 154 yards and a score.

Norwin 22 Mt Lebanon 3 WATCH

With Giovanni Rothrauff propelling the offense and the defense not permitting a touchdown, Norwin bested Mount Lebanon 22-3 in a Class 6A clash at Penn-Trafford High School. Rothrauff compiled 30 carries for 175 yards, scoring twice for the homestanding Knights (3-2, 1-1). Moreover, Max Ritz hit on 12-of-21 throws for 82 yards, including a 9-yard TD to Maddox Pivarnik, as well as an interception. Josh Huff accounted for the lone points for the Blue Devils (0-4, 0-1) with a field goal.

Jeannette 14 Riverview 7 WATCH

Jeannette used a stifling defense to edge Riverview 14-7 in a low-scoring affair in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. After the Raiders (1-4, 1-1) opened the scoring in the first quarter, Hunter Schaeffer returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a score. Jayce Powell notched the decisive score on a run for the Jayhawks (4-1, 2-0), as he caught six passes for 40 yards and rushed six times for 43 yards. Anthony Stuchell threw for 102 yards for the host Jayhawks. Lukas Duncan produced the TD for Riverview on a 3-yard run.

Deer Lakes 48 Derry Area 26 WATCH

Despite another strong rushing performance from Max Doherty, Derry Area tasted defeat at Deer Lakes, 48-26, in a nonconference clash. Doherty amassed 191 yards and scored twice for the Trojans (2-3). Roman Smith, meanwhile, mustered 178 yards and three rushing scores, and added a receiving touchdown for the Lancers (2-3).

Woodland Hills 41 Greater Latrobe 6

Doomed by big plays, Greater Latrobe suffered a 41-6 setback against host Woodland Hills in the Class 5A Big East Conference. Dante Durigon provided the only points for the Wildcats (3-2, 1-1) on a 5-yard run in the second quarter. Wolverines (2-3, 2-0) QB Jaron McKinney hit on 9-of-18 throws for 260 yards and two scores, including 57 and 96-yard TDs to Jordan Austin.

Penn-Trafford 64 Connellsville 0

For the second week in a row, Penn-Trafford dismantled its opponent, as the undefeated Warriors whitewashed homestanding Connellsville Area 64-0 in a Class 5A Big East Conference game. Ben Grabowski had a TD pass and a TD run for the Warriors (5-0, 2-0), while Nick Ponko hauled in a touchdown pass and also returned a punt 57 yards for a score. Jordan Earhart also threw and ran for a touchdown for the Warriors against the Falcons (3-2, 0-1).

Franklin Regional 35 Fox Chapel Area 0

With Jet Taylor leading the way, Franklin Regional blanked Fox Chapel Area 35-0 in Big East Conference play. The victory marks the first of the season for the Panthers (1-4, 1-1), and the first for Brian Johnson as head coach. Taylor notched 163 yards and two scores on the ground for FR against the Foxes (1-4, 0-2).

Belle Vernon Area 49 Greensburg Salem 14

For the second week in a row, the Belle Vernon Area defense limited a prolific QB, as the Leopards blasted Greensburg Salem 49-14 in the Class 3A Interstate Conference. BVA (4-1, 1-0), which led 49-0 at halftime, received a pair of rushing TDs from both Chace Petrosky and David Bergstedt, while Petrosky also hauled in a touchdown pass from Jace Gedekoh. Brody Chismar went 4-of-9 passing for 62 yards and two interceptions for GS (0-5, 0-2). Terrance Martin posted two TDs in the second half for the Golden Lions.

Elizabeth Forward 41 Southmoreland 0

Southmoreland could not stop Elizabeth Forward’s potent offense, as the Scotties were blanked 41-0 at home in a Class 3A Interstate Conference game. EF (5-0, 2-0) scored touchdowns on four of its first five possessions, with QB Kaden Allen rushed for two scores and adding another through the air. The Scotties (2-3, 1-1) were blanked for the second time this season.

Waynesburg Central 44 Mount Pleasant 14

Mount Pleasant Area could not slow the duo of Ky-mani Sumpter and Teagan Crouse, who led Waynesburg Central to a convincing 44-14 win in the Class 3A Interstate Conference. Sumpter rushed for three scores, while Crouse passed for three for the Raiders (4-1, 1-1). Tristian Wtorkiewicz scored both touchdowns for the Vikings (3-2, 1-1).

North Catholic 32 Burrell 20

Although Antonio Perkins had a strong showing, Burrell came up short against North Catholic, 32-20, in a Class 3A Allegheny Seven Conference tilt. Perkins rushed for 168 yards, threw for 132 yards, and returned a kickoff 85 yards, factoring into all three TD for the Buccaneers (3-2, 0-1). Will Waskiewicz caught 14 passes for 196 yards and three scores for the Trojans (2-3, 2-0).

Highlands 48 Valley 6

Valley could not slow down Highlands in a 48-6 setback in the Class 3A Allegheny Conference. Tevin Owen-Cratsenberg compiled 22 carries for 176 yards and four TDs for the Golden Rams (4-1, 2-0), while Logan Thies amassed 161 yards and a score through the air. In the defeat, the Vikings (2-3, 0-2) were led by Skyler Lincoln, who went 11-of-22 passing for 140 yards and a score.

Greensburg Central Catholic 56 Springdale 7

Greensburg Central Catholic jumped out to a 42-0 lead in the first half and never looked back, thrashing Springdale 56-7 in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. Blase Bugosh led the way for GCC (4-1, 1-0), scoring four touchdowns in the first half of the game. Colin Snively, Tommy Dlugos, Carson Kramer, and Alex Snively also scored. For the host Dynamos (1-3, 0-2), Corey Brooks had a 25-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Burgettstown 10 Monessen 6

Monessen led until the final minute, but fell in heartbreaking fashion 10-6 to Burgettstown in Class 1A Black Hills Conference play. Blake Neal scored the winning 1-yard TD for the Blue Devils (5-0, 2-0) with 28 seconds left. Lamont Cullen caught a 20-yard touchdown pass for the Greyhounds (4-1, 1-1).

Plum 29 Kiski Area 28

Staked to a 28-0 lead, Kiski Area could not close out the game, falling at home to Plum 29-28 in a nonconference thriller. The Mustangs (5-0) scored three touchdowns in the final five minutes, and their two-point conversion run by QB John Nonnenberg with 19 seconds left was the difference. Kiski Area QB Landyn Artman went 11-of-18 passing for 169 yards, with two scores and one interception, highlighted by a 69-yard TD to Daevion McNeil. Ashton Taylor produced 32 carries for 103 yards and two touchdowns for the Cavaliers (1-4).

Uniontown Area 62 Yough 0

Yough was overwhelmed in a 62-0 loss at Uniontown Area in nonconference play. Brayden Hinzy threw four touchdown passes for the Red Raiders (3-2). It was the third time the Cougars (0-5) have been blanked this season.

Ligonier Valley 52 Carlynton 12

Ligonier Valley clicked on all cylinders to stay perfect with a 52-12 home win against Carlynton in a nonconference game. Signal caller Levi Foust threw for 217 yards and four scores, and he added 102 yards and two touchdowns on the ground for the Rams (5-0). Additionally, Anthony Petalino caught five passes for 128 yards and three scores against the Cougars (2-3). The win marked the 500th in LV history.
