Penn-Trafford 6 Franklin Regional 0
Behind Dom Delio's complete game shutout, Penn-Trafford blanked Franklin Regional 6-0 in a Section 1-5A clash. The Warriors led 1-0 through one inning and added three more runs in the third frame plus two in the sixth to put the game away. Zach Feldman and Jordan White each had two hits for the Warriors (13-5, 9-2). Feldman scored a run while White drove in a run. Tanner DeStefano, Nico Casciato, Bryce Ruby, and Evan Lawson all had an RBI for PT. Luke Williams doubled for the Panthers (13-5, 7-4). Delio yielded just three hits and struck out seven to pick up the victory. With the win, Penn-Trafford is now tied with Plum for first place in the section with one game remaining. Franklin Regional now sits in fourth place, one game behind Greater Latrobe for third.
Plum 3 Greater Latrobe 1
Greater Latrobe out-hit Plum 6-3 but the Mustangs did just enough to claim a 3-1 victory over the Wildcats in a Section 1-5A showdown. Plum went up 2-0 in the third inning as Max Vollmer singled to right field which would have only brought in Ryan Lafferty from second. But the ball got by Greater Latrobe right fielder Joe Razza which allowed Timothy Ruggiero to score as well. Joey Crimboli cut the lead to 2-1 with a RBI infield single in the fourth but Enzo Miele answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to set the final at 3-1. The Wildcats threatened in the seventh as they had runners at first and second with no one out but two strikeouts and a fielders choice ended the game. Crimboli and Razza each finished with two hits for Greater Latrobe while Cole Short added a double. Braden Kemmerer struck out eight batters in six innings to pick up the win for Plum. The Mustangs are now tied with Penn-Trafford for first in the section.
Kiski Area 12 Penn Hills 2 (6 inn.)
Zach Hald went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to power Kiski Area to a 12-2, six-inning victory in Section 1-5A. In addition to held, Henry Krogh and Andrew Varner each doubled and drove in two runs for the Cavaliers (5-10, 4-7). Krogh was the winning pitcher as he struck out six batters and allowed just one hit in four innings. Anthony Sipple notched two hits for the Indians (1-12, 0-11).
Belle Vernon 3 West Mifflin 2
Belle Vernon took advantage of two West Mifflin miscues in the first inning, scoring all three runs in the opening frame and holding off the Titans to win 3-2 in Section 2-4A. Nate Kostelnik's ground ball in the first inning was misplayed by West Mifflin second baseman Chase Maggio which allowed two runs to score. Vicenzo Francia then produced a RBI groundout to give the Leopards a 3-0 lead. The Titans answered with single tallies in the second and sixth innings but pitcher Belle Vernon pitcher Ian Porter preserved the lead. Kostelnik was credited with two RBIs for the Leopards (14-3, 9-2). Porter went all seven innings allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits. He struck out three. Nate Fleming recorded two hits and a run scored for West Mifflin (12-6, 8-3). With the victory, Belle Vernon moves into sole possession of second place in the section.
Connellsville 18 Greensburg Salem 8 (6 inn.)
Connellsville led by just two runs, 10-8, in the sixth inning but exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to win 18-8 in non-section action. Brady Gillott put up two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead the Golden Lions (2-13). Tyler Dunmire produced two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Linkon Keller had two hits and scored three runs for the Falcons (9-10).
Yough 10 Deer Lakes 0 (5 inn.)
Yough scored runs in all five innings as it emerged with a 10-0 victory over Deer Lakes in Section 3-3A play. Nate Bell tripled, doubled and drove in a run for the Cougars (9-8, 5-6). John Steban added two hits and two runs scored while Aidan Shaffer knocked in a pair of runs and scored twice. Bell allowed two hits in five innings to earn the win on the mound for Yough. The Lancers drop to (5-14, 3-8). The Cougars are now tied with Ligonier Valley for fourth place in the section.
Mount Pleasant 5 Ligonier Valley 1
Jordan Grieff allowed just one run in a complete game victory leading Mount Pleasant to a 5-1 Section 3-3A triumph against Ligonier Valley. Coleten Keefer had a two-run single for the Vikings (11-7, 8-3) while Santino Marne, Ian Shipley and Grieff each had two hits. Gavin Moore recorded two hits and an RBI for the Rams (9-9, 5-6). Ligonier Valley needs a win or a Yough loss Tuesday to clinch a WPIAL playoff spot. Mount Pleasant has solidified the No. 2 spot in the section.
Freeport 12 Southmoreland 2 (6 inn.)
First place Freeport pounded out 18 hits and scored 12 times in a 12-2 lopsided win at Southmoreland in a Section 3-3A game. Brock Pritts doubled and scored a run for the Scotties while Jake Govern had a hit and crossed home once. Leadoff hitter Gavin Tola finished 4-for-5 with a double and four RBIs to pace the Yellowjackets (16-0, 11-0).
Jefferson-Morgan 6 Jeannette 1
Jefferson Morgan built up a 4-0 lead through four innings and Jeannette could only muster a run in the Jayhawks 6-1 defeat to the Rockets in Section 1-1 play. The Jayhawks lone run came off the bat of Evyn Yargeau who homered in the fifth inning. Zion Harper added two hits for Jeannette (9-7, 5-6) while Jayden Kennedy doubled. Deakyn DeHoet homered, doubled and brought home three runs for Jefferson-Morgan (11-7, 7-4).
Greensburg Central Catholic 16 Mapletown 0 (4 inn.)
Greensburg Central Catholic blew out Mapletown 16-0 in a Section 1-1A game. Anthony Grippo doubled, finishing with three hits, six RBIs and four runs scored for the Centurions (13-0, 11-0). Stephen Kochis went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Tyler Samide and Michael Kiss each threw two scoreless innings. Mapletown is (3-16, 0-11).
