WPIAL girls soccer quarterfinal playoff results from Thursday, October 24th:

Canon-McMillan 3 Penn-Trafford 1 - WATCH BROADCAST

Canon-McMillan tallied a goal 13 seconds into the second half to take the lead, as the Big Macs upset third-seeded Penn-Trafford 3-1 in the WPIAL Class 4A quarterfinals. Freshman Sarah Coffman tallied the winning marker, while Abigail Ault and Rachel Tomley also ripped the twine for the No. 6 Big Macs. Alexis Brown scored the lone marker for the host Warriors in the 34th minute, while keeper Rease Solomon notched eight saves. While Canon-McMillan advances to the semifinals to face No. 2 Seneca Valley on Monday, the Warriors wrap up the season with a mark of 13-5-0.


WPIAL girls soccer first round playoff results from Tuesday, October 22nd:

Mt. Pleasant 8 McGuffey 0 (2A)

Morgan Gesinski and Madelynn Barrick each registered hat trick's as No. 1 Mount Pleasant shut out No. 16 McGuffey 8-0 in a first round clash in the WPIAL 2A post-season. The Vikings (15-1) advance to the quarterfinals to play Burrell on Saturday.

North Catholic 3 Yough 0 (2A)

Yough couldn't solve North Catholic goalkeeper Marina Camino, falling to the Trojans 3-0 in a WPIAL 2A first round playoff battle at Freedom. The No. 6 Trojans (14-3) advance to face No. 3 Beaver in the quarterfinals Saturday. The 11th seeded Cougars finish the season with an overall mark of 12-7.

Burrell 6 Keystone Oaks 0 (2A)

Leah Waldsmith and Miley Kariotis each registered two goals to help lift No. 9 Burrell to a 6-0 victory at No. 8 Keystone Oaks in a WPIAL 2A first round playoff contest. Makiah Buchak contributed a goal and two assists while Dana Barczykowski earned the shutout for the Bucs (12-5-1) who will play top-seeded Mount Pleasant on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Freeport 8 Belle Vernon 0 (2A)

Elena Jenkins netted a hat trick to guide No. 5 Freeport to an 8-0 triumph over No. 12 Belle Vernon (9-10) in a WPIAL 2A first round playoff game. The Yellowjackets will meet No. 4 South Park on Saturday in the quarterfinals while the Leopards season ends with a 9-10

Quaker Valley 4 Southmoreland 0 (2A)

No. 15 Southmoreland's season ended in the first round of the WPIAL 2A playoffs, losing at No. 2 Quaker Valley 4-0. Ari Bish collected a pair of goals for the Quakers (14-2-2) who will play No. 7 Deer Lakes on Saturday in the quarterfinals. The Scotties end the year at 10-8.

Springdale 7 Greensburg Central Catholic 1 (1A)

Briana Ross put up a hat trick and an assist to pace top-seeded Springdale in a 7-1 win over No. 16 Greensburg Central Catholic. The Dynamos advance to square off with No. 8 Freedom in the quarterfinals on Saturday. The Centurions finish with a 5-8 overall record.


WPIAL girls soccer first round playoff results from Monday, October 21st:

Pine-Richland 4 Greater Latrobe 3 (4A)

No. 8 Pine-Richland held off a late rally by Greater Latrobe to claim its first WPIAL playoff win in 2018, beating the ninth-seeded Wildcats 4-3 in a WPIAL 4A first round clash. With a 1-1 tie at the half, Anna Amato's tally put the Rams ahead early in the second half. Abby Satina and Charlie Olszewski followed with goals to increase the PR advantage to 4-1. Annalyse Bauer scored with 10 minutes left in regulation and, with only 1:19 remaining, Robin Reilly converted a penalty kick to trim the Wildcats deficit to 4-3. Reilly had a late touch and dribbled in on goal but couldn't tie the game. Pine-Richland (13-5) takes on top-seeded Peters Township in the quarterfinals on Thursday while Greater Latrobe finishes with a 8-6-1 overall mark.

Mount Lebanon 1 Norwin 0 (4A)

Mount Lebanon goalkeeper Makenna Tappe both made a save and scored a goal in the shootout, as the No. 12 Blue Devils upset fifth seed Norwin 1-0 in the WPIAL Class 4A first round. Mount Lebanon won the shootout 4-3, as Lucy Pryor netted the winner. Julia Bursick, Carmella Simko, and Delanna Colarusso tallied in the shootout for the host Knights, while keeper Rebecca Kostrobala made a save. The Knights and Blue Devils played scoreless through regulation and two overtime periods, as Tappe made five saves and Kostrobala had four stops, including a pair in the second overtime. As a result, Mount Lebanon advances to the quarterfinals to play No. 4 North Allegheny on Thursday, while Norwin’s season ends with a mark of 10-8-1.

Canon-McMillan 11 Hempfield Area 0 (4A)

No. 11 Hempfield Area was shutout in its WPIAL 4A first round game against Canon-McMillan, losing 11-0 to the sixth-seeded Big Macs. Sarah Coffman, Ella Shields and Rachel Tomley scored two goals each for Canon-McMillan (12-3-1) which faces No. 3 Penn-Trafford in Thursday's quarterfinals. The Spartans final record stands at 5-14.

Montour 3 Franklin Regional 2 (3A)

Despite rallying late in regulation to force extra time, ninth seed Franklin Regional fell 3-2 in overtime against host Montour in the Class 3A first round. Irelynn Hobbs provided the golden goal in the final minute of the first OT for the No. 8 Spartans. Franklin Regional’s Abby Paterline deadlocked the match with less than five minutes left, and Natalie Keough also tallied for the Panthers. Kira Hobbs posted a pair of goals for the Spartans, who advance to the quarterfinals to face top-seeded Fox Chapel Area on Thursday. Franklin Regional’s season concludes with a record of 12-6-0.

South Fayette 4 Kiski Area 0 (3A)

No. 15 Kiski Area saw its season conclude in a 4-0 defeat at No. 2 South Fayette in the first round of the WPIAL 3A post-season. Quinn Miller, Gabby Beinecke, Abbey Spalla and Mia Patel all notched goals for the Lions (15-3) who will meet No. 10 Bethel Park in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Cavaliers end the year with a 6-10-1 record.
