Westmoreland County softball game recaps from Monday, April 20th 2026:

Penn-Trafford 13 Gateway 3 (5 innings)

Penn-Trafford cruised to an abbreviated win at home in Section 2-5A play, besting Gateway 13-3 in five innings. Aria Smith went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Warriors (12-2, 9-1), while Julia Salvador notched the win in the circle. Malia Clemens had a double and an RBI for the Gators (4-8, 2-8).

Greater Latrobe 16 McKeesport Area 1 (5 innings)

Keyed by an explosive offensive effort, Greater Latrobe smashed McKeesport Area 16-1 in five innings in a Section 2-5A contest. Madi Balko and Sara Blossey each homered and collected three RBIs, while Morgan Maiers had a pair of hits and four RBIs, and Natalia Scekeres had two extra-base hits for the visiting Wildcats (8-6, 6-5) against the sputtering Tigers (2-11, 0-11).

Armstrong 11 Franklin Regional 1

Franklin Regional allowed 10 runs in the seventh inning, falling to Armstrong 11-1 in a Section 2-5A battle. Ava Rhoten and Bella Salas collected doubles for the Panthers (3-14, 3-8). The homestanding River Hawks (10-4, 10-2) were led by Anniston Andryka, who went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, while Isabel Prazenica and Josie Porter each had two RBIs.

Greensburg Salem 19 Valley 3

Greensburg Salem improves its record to (5-4, 5-3) while Valley drops to (1-12, 0-10) after the Golden Lions 19-3 victory in Section 1-4A.

Elizabeth Forward 13 Belle Vernon 5

Despite a big game from Ava Jones, Belle Vernon Area couldn’t slow down Elizabeth Forward, which prevailed 13-5 in a Section 2-4A clash. Jones belted a homer, doubled, and produced four runs batted in for the host Leopards (7-8, 5-7). The Warriors (12-2, 11-0) were paced by Berlyn Holibaugh, who went 3-for-6 with two home runs and three RBIs, while Addy Nigut compiled three hits, including a homer, and four runs batted in.

Burrell 8 Southmoreland 1

Shelby Novak helped propel Burrell to a convincing 8-1 victory at home against Southmoreland in Section 1-3A play. Novak went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and earned the win in the circle for the Buccaneers (8-5, 6-3), while Addy Wojtczak plated a couple of runs. Isabella Grabiak was a bright spot for the Scotties (3-11, 2-8), producing a double and accounting for the lone RBI.

Serra Catholic 5 Jeannette 0

Jeannette’s bats could not solve pitcher Kelly Morrissey, as host Serra Catholic ousted the Jayhawks 5-0 in a Section 3-1A game. Grace Stein worked five innings, racking up 13 strikeouts, while she also went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Jayhawks (7-3, 5-2). Those were the only hits allowed by Morrisey, though, as she notched the shutout and struck out 15, while Alonna Morton had two RBIs for the Eagles (7-4, 6-0).
