Norwin 15 North Allegheny 8
Norwin tallied eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull away from North Allegheny and capture a 15-8 victory in Section 1-6A. Diem Wardzinski had a massive game for the Knights finishing 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Addison Grimes finished with three hits, including a double, and drove in four for Norwin (2-3, 2-2) while Madelyn Kugler collected a pair of hits and scored three runs. Zoe Rychel recorded four hits and two RBIs for the Tigers (2-4, 2-3).
Hempfield Area 13 Canon-McMillan 0 (5 innings)
Hempfield Area exploded for 10 runs in the fifth inning to earn a 13-0, five-inning victory over Canon-McMillan in a Section 1-6A contest. Ella Berkebile homered and knocked in four runs for the Spartans (7-1, 5-0) while Jayelyn Luft had two hits and two RBIs. Lauren Howard's fifth-inning single set a new school record for hits in a career with 112. It breaks the previous record of 111 held by Laura Fox. Julia Varhola worked four innings striking out eight batters to earn the victory. Harley Tournay notched two hits for the Big Macs (5-1, 4-1).
Penn-Trafford 8 Armstrong 7
Gabi Rubbe's two-run, walk-off home run lifted Penn-Trafford to an 8-7 victory over Armstrong in a key Section 2-5A tilt. With one out and the Warriors down 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh, Torrie DeStefano ripped a single to right field. Rubbe followed by blasting a 2-2 pitch to center field where centerfielder Maddie Sturgeon got a glove on it before it fell over the fence for the game-winner. DeStefano and Ava Heller each had three hits for the Warriors (7-2, 5-1) while Annabell Carvajal finished with two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Natalie Zeigler went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Riverhawks (6-3, 6-1). Allyson Paulone was the winning pitcher working all seven innings.
Franklin Regional 29 McKeesport 11 (6 innings)
Celina Comacho and Ava Rhoten put up five hits a piece as Franklin Regional blasted McKeesport 29-11 in a Section 2-5A game. The Panthers finished with 27 total hits in the contest. Rhoten tallied seven RBIs while Camacho drove in five. Ellah Rozycki belted two home runs while Rhoten also hit one for Franklin Regional (2-8, 2-3). Bella Salas was credited with the victory. The Tigers drop to (1-5, 0-5).
Kiski Area 11 Gateway 0 (5 innings)
Kyla Hutcherson homered and tripled to lead Kiski Area to an 11-0, 5-inning shutout of Gateway in Section 2-5A. Hutcherson added three RBIs and two runs scored for the Cavaliers (7-2, 4-2) while Kyleigh Rainey knocked in three runs and Peytan McGarry walked four times. Aubrey West whiffed seven in five scoreless innings to pick up the win. The Gators drop to (2-5, 1-5.)
Derry Area 18 Valley 0 (Game 1) (4 innings) Derry Area 18 Valley 3 (Game 2) (3 innings)
Derry Area picked up two lopsided Section 1-4A victories in a doubleheader sweep of Valley taking game one 18-0 in four innings and game two 18-3 in three innings. In the first game, Haylee Myers cracked two home runs and posted nine RBIs for the Trojans (5-1, 4-0). Alexa Darazio produced three hits, including a double, and knocked in five. In game two, Lylah O'Donnell went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored for DA while Frankie DePalma had two hits and four RBIs. Myers was the winning pitcher in game one totaling eight strikeouts in four innings and Marie Razpotnik earned the victory in game two. Valley drops to (1-8, 0-6).
Indiana 14 Greensburg Salem 4 (5 innings)
Indiana plated nine runs in the first two innings and went on to defeat Greensburg Salem 14-4 in a five-inning Section 1-4A match up. Mryah Hawkey finished 2-for-3 and brought in a run for the Golden Lions (2-3, 2-2). Samantha Martin posted a 4-for-4 day with a double and two RBIs for the Indians (6-2, 5-0).
Mount Pleasant 7 Southmoreland 0
Mount Pleasant scored all seven runs in the third inning and that was more than enough support for Danica Trainer as she tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout leading the Vikings past Southmoreland 7-0 in Section 3-3A action. Kendra Brunson had two hits, scored a run and brought home a run for the Vikings (6-1, 4-0) while Emma Miller doubled and knocked in a pair. Trainer finished with 18 strikeouts while yielding just one hit. Payton Shroyer claimed the lone hit for the Scotties (1-8, 0-5).
Burrell 6 Yough 5 (10 innings)
Haylee Heasley's walk-off single in the 10th inning propelled Burrell to a thrilling 6-5 extra-inning win over Yough in a Section 3-3A battle. The Cougars scored twice in the top of the 10th to go in front 5-3 but Tina Gural doubled in a run for the Bucs to cut the deficit to 5-4 in the bottom of the frame and then Heasley drove in Gural and Addy Wojtczak to claim the victory. Heasley finished with two hits and four RBIs to lead Burrell. Gural, and Cayla Brothers both recorded two hits. Kylee Fisher and Payton Jenkins both had three hits for Yough ( with Jenkins driving in three runs and Fisher scoring twice. Shelby Novak went all 10 innings for the victory.
Jeannette 9 Monessen 6
Grace Stein went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as Jeannette topped Monessen 9-6 in a Section 1-1A affair. Abigail Shaw added two hits and scored three times for the Jayhawks who plated six runs in the third inning. Stein whiffed nine batters in seven innings to earn the win in the circle. Mya Kelly produced three hits and three runs for the Greyhounds.
