Meadville Area scored a pair of goals in each period, cruising to a 6-1 win against homestanding Greensburg Salem on Thursday at the Kirk Nevin Arena in Greensburg.
The Golden Lions dropped to 7-4-1, with 15 points, while the Bulldogs improved to 8-3-0, and with 16 points, moved ahead of Greensburg Salem in the Class A Gold Division standings.
Although Meadville threatened numerous times throughout the first period, the Bulldogs finally took the lead late in the frame on a 5-on-3 power play. Rocco Tartaglione cashed in on a two-man advantage for Meadville, and just 32 seconds later, Robert Mahoney netted another power play goal to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 edge.

The Bulldogs put the finishing touches on their impressive showing in the third period, as Schepner scored again, and Ryan Yunik tallied to extend to a 6-0 lead.
With 2:24 left in the contest, the Golden Lions scored their lone goal, courtesy of Chase Kushner on a breakaway.
Ethan Patrick took the loss in net for GS, as he permitted six goals on 29 shots.
In addition to Schepner’s two goals, he tallied a pair of assists to lead Meadville. The Bulldogs also received a three-point effort by Tartaglione, and AJ Fuller was strong in net, making 21 stops.
Greensburg Salem returns to the ice at home on Dec. 21 against Montour, while Meadville Area is back in action on Monday, hosting Indiana Area.
