A matchup of two of the top teams in the PIHL Class A Blue Division ended in lopsided fashion, as Fox Chapel Area dominated Kiski Area en route to a 10-2 victory at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmarville on Monday.

The Foxes led 5-0 after the first period, and carried a 7-0 advantage into the second period intermission, enacting the running clock on two occasions.

Mason Heininger, who leads the Foxes in scoring for the season, posted a hat trick, while Liam Wiseman added two goals. That duo accounted for four of the goals in the opening frame, while Alex Macek also lit the lamp for the hosts.

Heininger registered his third goal of the night early in the second, and Danny Downey extended the Foxes lead to 7-0 later in the stanza.

Although Kyle Guido and Justin Gross provided goals for the Cavaliers in the third to trim the deficit to five, Fox Chapel restored and then increased its substantial lead on tallies by Quentin Miske, Sam Smith, and Killian Kissane to cap the scoring.

With the victory, the Foxes maintained their spot atop the Blue Division, improving to 17-2-0, with 34 points. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, had their nine-game winning streak snapped, dropping their record to 14-4-0, remaining at 28 points.

While the Cavaliers will return to the ice next Monday on the road against Hampton, the Foxes will conclude regular-season play at home against Westmont Hilltop on the same night.
