Samir Crosby had everyone wondering where he would continue his football career. A well-regarded athlete from Greensburg Central Catholic, Crosby has been garnering attention from various college coaches since his freshman year.

He quelled a lot of the curiosity last month by making his commitment to play football at Georgetown University.

“It’s a big weight lifted off my shoulders,” he mentioned about the decision. “Now, I can focus on school, finish the year, and just relax.”

Crosby was drawn to the nation’s capital because he felt he could see himself going there even if it wasn’t for football. He plans to major in business and eventually focus his attention in finance.

The Hoyas weren’t the only suitor trying to sway Crosby to come to their program. Miami (OH), Kent State, Fordham, Sacred Heart, and North Carolina A&T were just a few who had the two-way athlete on the radar.

It ultimately came down to NC A&T and Georgetown, with the Hoyas pulling away in the end.

During his career, Crosby has found himself playing a wide variety of positions - from quarterback to defensive back and even stints as a punter.

“Playing a multitude of different positions gives you an extra edge on the game,” he added. “Understanding areas, zones - it just helped you a lot more.”

He will be playing receiver at the next level, but the Hoyas coaching staff has remarked he could play on defense and even some at quarterback.

Before leaving GCC, he made an indelible mark on the program. Crosby became the first person in Westmoreland County football history to accomplish over 1,000 yards each receiving, rushing, and passing for a career.

The cherry on top? He contributed to 75 touchdowns over his time with GCC.

“It’s insane that with the time I’ve had over high school, I’ve been able to accomplish what many people would say is harder to,” he mentioned. “It’s definitely a blessing from God.”

With a fairly free schedule over the final few months at GCC, he plans on working out and spending time with friends and family.

However, before he graduates as a Centurion, he wants to make sure his legacy is felt throughout the halls at GCC.

“I hope that I could have inspired some kids from a smaller school,” he shared. “Keep shooting for the stars is definitely the legacy I want to leave behind at (Greensburg Central) Catholic.”
