Westmoreland County girls basketball game recaps from Monday, January 5th, 2026:

Mount Lebanon 49 Norwin 43

Norwin tasted defeat for the first time this season, losing to Mount Lebanon 49-43 in a Section 2-6A tussle. Three players finished in double figures for the Blue Devils with Chloe Shea's 17 points leading the way for Mount Lebanon (3-6, 1-1). Aubrey Graney put up 14 for the Knights (9-1, 2-1).

Kiski Area 56 West Mifflin 29

Kiski Area built up a 31-14 halftime lead and never looked back in a 56-29 Section 2-5A triumph at West Mifflin. Gianna DeVito's 18 points paced the Cavaliers (6-3, 2-2) while Jade Blanciak added 15. Nerual Parms tossed in 12 points for the Titans (5-7, 1-3).

Indiana 52 Greater Latrobe 33

Indiana remained tied for first place in Section 2-5A following a 52-33 win at Greater Latrobe. Emry Bridge tallied 12 points to pace the Wildcats (6-3, 3-1) who trailed 18-4 after one quarter. Julia Antonacci racked up 25 points for the Indians (12-1, 4-0) who have a half-game lead over Penn-Trafford for first place in the section.

Knoch 57 Derry Area 26

Neah Ewing poured in 26 points as Knoch raced past Derry Area 57-26 in a Section 1-4A battle. Trinity Miller registered nine points for the Trojans (3-7, 1-3). It was the Knights first win of the season improving to (1-10, 1-2).

Burrell 59 Freeport 30

Burrell outscored Freeport in every quarter, securing a 59-30 Section 1-4A home victory over Freeport. Case Coury and Casey Brancato scored 15 and 13 points respectively for the Buccaneers (10-3, 4-1). Jaisa Gaillot and CeCe Shelgel both finished with nine points for the Yellowjackets (6-5, 1-2).

Belle Vernon 58 Laurel Highlands 26

Lyla McConnell's 20 points powered Belle Vernon to a 58-26 victory over Laurel Highlands in Section 3-4A action. In addition to McConnell, teammate Emerson LaCarte also reached double-digits with 11 points for the Leopards (8-3, 4-1) who were in front 16-2 through one. Taylor Schwertfeger had nine for the Mustangs (3-9, 1-4).

Mount Pleasant 52 Southmoreland 30

Ryleigh Drzal recorded a game-high 19 points as Mount Pleasant topped Southmoreland 52-30 in a Section 3-4A contest. The Score was knotted at 8-all after one quarter but the Vikings outscored the Scotties 22-4 in the second to take control. Grace Arrigo added 13 points for Mount Pleasant (6-6, 3-2) while Ashley Seder tossed in 12 points for Southmoreland (1-12, 0-5).

South Park 49 Yough 8

Yough dropped a 49-8 Section 3-4A game to the South Park. Bella Stromberg had 10 points for the Eagles.

Greensburg Central Catholic 77 Ligonier Valley 28

Erica Gribble was one of four Centurions to reach double figures as Greensburg Central Catholic earned a 77-28 triumph at Ligonier Valley in Section 2-3A. Jayla Peterson (15), Abby Dlugos (10) and Georgia Evans (10) all joined Gribble in double digits for GCC (8-3, 5-0) which lead 32-6 through the first eight minutes of the game. Adleigh Myers put in 17 points to lead the Rams (3-8, 2-4).

Apollo-Ridge 36 Jeannette 30

Jeannette was outscored 10-2 in the final quarter, suffering a 36-30 loss at Apollo-Ridge in a Section 4-2A tilt. Navarah Smith's 17 points paced the Jayhawks (8-3, 0-1) while Madison Hughley scored 13 for the Vikings (4-8, 1-2).
