Westmoreland County boys basketball game recaps from Tuesday, February 3rd 2026:

Norwin 59 Canon-McMillan 45

Battling for a WPIAL playoff spot, Norwin earned a key 59-45 win at Canon-McMillan in Section 2-6A play. Alex Graney (14) and Chirstopher McKnight (12) each reached double figures for the Knights (11-10, 6-7) while Roman Koenemund put in a game-high 23 points for the Big Macs (6-13, 2-10). Norwin currently is tied for fifth place in the section.

Upper St. Clair 92 Hempfield Area 46

Upper St. Clair exploded for 26 points out of the gate, leading 26-9 after one quarter and went on to defeat Hempfield Area 92-46 in Section 2-6A action. Lucas Simmons tallied eight points for the Spartans (14-7, 7-6) while Ryan Robbins amassed 20 points for the Panthers (19-1, 12-1).

Franklin Regional 55 Albert Gallatin 50

Franklin Regional came alive in the second half, rallying to earn a 55-50 victory at Albert Gallatin in Section 1-5A. Down 30-21 at halftime, the Panthers outscored the Colonials 34-20 in the second half. Logan Walter's 23 points powered Franklin Regional (12-8, 8-5) while Webber Rankin came in with 10 points. Darrin Ford put in a team-high 15 points for Albert Gallatin (2-18, 0-13). The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for the Panthers who have clinched a WPIAL playoff spot.

Gateway 63 Penn-Trafford 51

Penn-Trafford was outscored 21-7 in the first quarter and couldn't dig out of the early hole, falling to Gateway 63-51 in a Section 1-5A clash. Ethan McDonald and Zach Feldman each collected 15 points for the Warriors (10-10, 8-5) while Mykel Bruce-McCrommon's 24 points topped all-scorers for the Gators (14-6, 12-1).

Greater Latrobe 52 McKeesport 49

Ian DeCerb scored 19 points as Greater Latrobe held on for a 52-49 Section 1-5A victory at McKeesport. The Wildcats were outscored 20-11 in the fourth quarter but were able to hold off the Tigers to clinch the win. In addition to DeCerb, Rob Young chipped in with 13 points for Greater Latrobe (8-12, 6-7) while Aaron Reeder produced 20 points for the Tigers (9-11, 6-7). There is now a four-way tie for fourth place in the section.

Kiski Area 61 Plum 50

Amaree Gonzalez poured in 20 points to lead Kiski Area to a 61-50 triumph at Plum in a Section 2-5A showdown. Along with Gonzalez, D.J. Lindenfelder finished with 13 points and Daevion McNeil scored 12 for the Cavaliers (10-9, 6-5) who are tied for third place with Indiana and Hampton. Mekhi Samuels ended with 12 points for the Mustangs (6-15, 2-9).

Burrell 55 Valley 41

Ryan Wass racked up a game-high 27 points leading Burrell to a 55-41 Section 1-4A victory against Valley. Adam Wass added 13 points for the Bucs (10-12, 6-6) while Julian Danko's 12 points paced the Vikings (2-16, 0-10).

Elizabeth Forward 66 Yough 42

Yough lost to Elizabeth Forward 66-42 in a Section 3-4A contest. The Warriors improve to (13-7, 9-2) while the Cougars are now (2-17, 1-10).

Belle Vernon 53 Greensburg Salem 47

Greensburg Salem was two quarters away from pulling an upset but Belle Vernon used a big second half to beat the Golden Lions 53-47 in Section 3-4A. Greensburg Salem held a 32-22 advantage at halftime but the Leopards closed the game by holding a 31-15 scoring edge in the final two quarters. Dave Daugherty amassed 13 points for Belle Vernon (13-9, 9-3) while Luca Ghilani added 12. Solmon Cain's 13 points topped the Golden Lions (8-11, 3-7).

Southmoreland 75 Mount Pleasant 51

Noah Felentzer exploded for 29 points in Southmoreland's 75-51 Section 4-3A victory against Mount Pleasant. Brock Pritts added 16 points for the Scotties (12-7, 8-0) who lead 21-5 after one quarter. Jonah Townsend tallied 12 points for the Vikings (5-16, 1-8).

Ligonier Valley 63 Waynesburg Central 44

Michael Wisniewski went off, scoring 31 points in Ligonier Valley's 63-44 triumph against Waynesburg Central in a Section 4-3A game. Michael Vargulish-Graver tossed in 14 points for the Rams (11-8, 6-2) while Dane Woods scored 27 points for the Raiders (6-13, 4-5).

Jeannette 70 Greensburg Central Catholic 43

The game was tied after one quarter but Jeannette outscored Greensburg Central Catholic 21-9 in the second quarter to take control of the game and pull away for a 70-43 win in a Section 1-2A clash. Markus McGowan's 30 points were a game-high for the Jayhawks (16-1, 11-0) while Xavier Odorisio-Farrow came in with 10. Tommy Dlugos ended with nine points for the Centurions (6-14, 5-7).
