Franklin Regional 49 Hempfield Area 26 WATCH BROADCAST
The combination of Kyle Dupill and opportunistic defense and special teams sparked Franklin Regional in a 49-26 road win against Hempfield Area. Dupill notched 107 yards rushing and three scores on the ground, while the Panthers’ defense created four turnovers, including a pick-six, and the special teams yielded a kickoff return score. Jaymier Austin produced the 82-yard kickoff return, while Darwin Jones notched the interception return score for FR, which moved to 2-0. The Spartans, who dipped to 0-2, were led by returning QB Dom Detruf, who went 19-of-37 for 309 yards, with three TDs and a pair of interceptions. Aidan Stinebiser had three receptions for 45 yards and two TDs for the Spartans, while Nick Marquis recorded two catches for a team-best 70 yards receiving and a score.
Derry Area 21 Freeport Area 7 WATCH BROADCAST
Damauri Robinson scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to propel Derry Area to a 21-7 home win against Freeport Area. Thus, the Trojans improved to 1-1, while the Yellowjackets fell to 1-1. Additionally, Max Doperak hauled in a 33-yard TD pass from Anthony Sacco for the Trojans.
Norwin 33 Kiski Area 21 WATCH BROADCAST
Norwin rallied in the second half to claim victory for the second week in a row, as the Knights bested host Kiski Area 33-21. As a result, Norwin improved to 2-0, while Kiski Area dropped to 1-1. The Knights scored five rushing TDs, including a pair by QB Tristyn Tavares, who also threw for 125 yards on 14-of-22 attempts. Gio Rothrauff, Jake Sincak, and Jackson Huss also found pay dirt for Norwin. In the defeat, the Cavaliers received a big game from signalcaller Carson Heinle, who amassed 236 yards and two scores through the air, with both scores going to Aven Shirley.
Penn-Trafford 28 Mount Lebanon 7
Tasso Whipple had another big game on the ground, while the passing attack got untracked in Penn-Trafford’s 28-7 home win against Mount Lebanon. Whipple posted 22 carries for 136 yards and a score for the Warriors, who evened their record at 1-1. PT quarterback Jonny Lovre hit on 17-of-26 throws for 217 yards and a touchdown, while Jack Weishaar snagged 10 passes for 130 yards. The Blue Devils, conversely, fell to 0-2.
Jeannette 42 Apollo-Ridge 28 WATCH BROADCAST
Jayce Powell continued his robust start to the season, as he added three more TDs in Jeannette’s 42-28 home win against Apollo-Ridge. Thus, the Jayhawks moved to 2-0 on the campaign, while the Vikings dipped to 0-2. Powell posted a pair of TD receptions spanning 82 yards, and he notched a 60-yard punt return score. Kymon’e Brown was also stellar, as he tossed three touchdowns on 5-of-9 passing for 94 yards, and scored twice on the ground, rushing six times for 114 yards. Eli Jones also had a big night on the ground, registering seven carries for 117 yards.
Greater Latrobe 32 Plum 18
With Alex Tatsch leading the way, homestanding Greater Latrobe bested Plum 32-18. The Wildcats improved to 2-0 this season, while the Mustangs dipped to 0-2. Tatsch rushed for 158 yards and two scores on the ground, and he added a touchdown reception.
Greensburg Salem 43 Ligonier Valley 14
Keyed by forcing five turnovers, Greensburg Salem overmatched Ligonier Valley 43-14 at Offutt Field. Kai Brunot anchored the rushing attack for GS, as he amassed 142 yards and a score on a dozen carries. Keegan Young and Brady Smith also rushed for scores for the Golden Lions, while Peyton Chismar tossed TD passes to Dom Rosensteel and Max Topper. In the setback, John Jablunovsky rushed 12 times for 120 yards for LV, while Bowie Schreyer completed 9-of-18 passes for 165 yards and a score, but he threw four picks. His favorite receiver was Mark Jablunovsky, who made three catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. As a result, the Golden Lions ascended to 2-0, while the Rams fell to 1-1.
Mount Pleasant Area 36 Greensburg Central Catholic 35 (2 OT)
A two-point conversion in double overtime gave Mount Pleasant Area a thrilling 36-35 victory at Greensburg Central Catholic. On the decisive play, Stephen Predajna found the end zone on the conversion run, shortly after he hauled in a TD pass from Cole Chatfield. Predajna rushed 15 times for 87 yards and a score in the win, while Brody Hutter registered 14 carries for 93 yards and a pair of scores. Samir Crosby enjoyed another prolific game for GCC, as he hit on 13-of-30 passes for 219 yards, with two TDs and an interception, and he rushed 19 times for 131 yards and three TDs.
Southmoreland 49 East Allegheny 14
Anthony Smith continued to play beyond his years, as he guided Southmoreland to a 49-14 triumph at home against East Allegheny. Smith threw for 189 yards and three scores, including a pair of strikes to Elliot Premus, who snagged six passes for 127 yards. The Scotties improved to 2-0, while the Wildcats dropped to 0-2.
Shady Side Academy 42 Burrell 7
Burrell had no answer for the duo of Darrin Haynes and Cam Mallory, as they propelled Shady Side Academy to a 42-7 win at Burrell. Haynes exploded for 178 yards rushing and a pair of scores, along with five receptions for 143 yards and two more TDs. Additionally, Mallory went 7-of-8 passing for 163 yards and three TDs, while rushing for 78 yards and another touchdown for the Bulldogs, who moved to 1-1. Burrell, which dropped to 0-2, was led by Trey Coury, who posted 25 carries for 100 yards and the lone touchdown. Also, Rocco Gianetti had 70 yards rushing for the Buccaneers.

Yough moved to 2-0 for the first time in more than a decade, courtesy of the Cougars 21-9 win at Charleroi. Quarterback Raidon Kuroda threw for 89 yards, and he added 24 carries for 176 yards and two scores on the ground. Aidan Shaffer made four catches for 70 yards, while Aidan Thornton registered 69 yards rushing and a touchdown for Yough. The Charleroi Cougars, meanwhile, fell to 0-2, despite leading 3-0 at the half.
