Deron Hunter took the opening kickoff for a 96-yard touchdown for Hempfield Area, as the Spartans rolled to a 43-10 home victory against Kiski Area. Spartans QB Dom Detruf went 14-of-17 passing for 214 yards and four scores, while Jack Kopas snagged three passes for 59 yards and a pair of TDs for the Spartans (3-0). Troy Sebring and Drew Jones also notched touchdown receptions, while Brock Heisler recorded a sack for a safety for Hempfield Area, which held a 23-0 edge after the first quarter. The Cavaliers (1-2) scored their only touchdown on a 77-yard pass from Landyn Artman to Aven Shirley in the third quarter. Artman finished 10-of-22 for 190 yards for Kiski Area.
Derry Area 24 Deer Lakes 21 - WATCH BROADCAST
Anthony Sacco connected with Noah Stough with less than eight seconds left, giving Derry Area a thrilling 24-21 win at Deer Lakes. Stough amassed 140 yards receiving and two scores for the Trojans (2-1), including the 11-yard winning TD. Dante Mangieri threw for 234 yards and three scores, while Luca Mangieri contributed 172 yards and three receiving scores for the Lancers (1-2).
Jeannette 31 Ligonier Valley 0 - LISTEN BROADCAST
Jeannette was stellar defensively and explosive offensively, as the Jayhawks rolled to a 31-0 victory at home against Ligonier Valley. Kymon’e Brown connected on 12-of-16 throws for 249 yards and three scores, while Jayce Powell caught five passes for 130 yards and a pair of scores for the Jayhawks (2-1). Nick Mendoza added two TDs for Jeannette, and Dhestin Sanders rushed for a team-high 60 yards. The Rams (0-3) were paced by freshman Levi Foust, who rushed a dozen times for 45 yards.
Penn-Trafford 25 Moon Area 24
Penn-Trafford engineered a 95-yard touchdown drive in the final minute, as the Warriors edged host Moon Area 25-24 in a Class 5A thriller. The decisive series, which began with just 53 seconds left in regulation, was capped with a 15-yard touchdown connection from Nate Desmond to Landon Stikkel. Desmond went 17-of-28 for 252 yards for the Warriors (3-0), while Stikkel added 53 yards on the ground. Additionally, Cody Yacamelli rushed 18 times for 86 yards and two scores, while Nick Ponko produced six catches for 60 yards. The Tigers (2-1) scored 24 unanswered points, including a blocked punt returned for a score by Braeden Stuart.
Upper St. Clair 49 Franklin Regional 6
Franklin Regional was overmatched by Upper St. Clair 49-6 in the battle of the Panthers. Homestanding FR (0-3) fell into a 42-0 deficit in the first half, with its lone score coming on a 5-yard run by Jet Taylor under the mercy rule. Ethan Hellmann continued his stellar campaign for USC (3-0), throwing five touchdowns.
Belle Vernon Area 25 Central Valley 22
With Curty Wade leading the way, Belle Vernon Area notched a narrow 25-22 victory at Central Valley. For the Leopards (1-1), Wade threw for 165 yards and two scores, with Nick Mahalko catching four passes for 111 yards and a pair of TDs. In the loss for the Warriors (0-3), Ethan Shearer compiled 186 yards rushing, scoring twice.
Burrell 28 Mount Pleasant Area 21
A touchdown run by Antonio Perkins in the final minute gave host Burrell a 28-21 triumph against Mount Pleasant Area in a Westmoreland County clash. Perkins completed 12-of-17 throws for 153 yards, and posted 13 carries for 142 yards and scored all four TDs for the Buccaneers (1-2), and he also snagged an interception in the final seconds to seal the victory. In the defeat for the Vikings (1-2), quarterback Dane Firmstone went 6-of-13 through the air for 165 yards and a score, and he also found the end zone on a 1-yard run. Stephen Predajna returned for a one-week absence for the Vikes and caught a 58-yard score, but he left the contest with an apparent injury in the third quarter.
Greensburg Salem 26 Valley 10
Greensburg Salem scored 26 unanswered points, notching a 26-10 victory at Valley. Aden Krug produced a 60-yard interception return score for the Golden Lions (2-1). Moreover, Tyrese Lewis hauled in a TD pass from Brody Chismar, while LeTrey Derry found paydirt on a 3-yard run. In the loss for the Vikings (0-3), Zay Adams registered a first-quarter TD.

Yough had no answer for Ringgold’s Amoni Ward, who propelled the Rams to a lopsided 40-0 triumph against the Cougars in a weather-shortened contest. Ward rushed 12 times for 240 yards and four scores for homestanding Ringgold (2-1), while Dennis Hawkins also threw for a touchdown. In the shutout, John Gergely paced the Cougars (2-1) with 63 yards rushing, while Ryan Sarver had four receptions.

Led by Bobby Smithnosky, Greensburg Central Catholic bested Apollo-Ridge 35-16. Smithnosky passed for 154 yards and three scores for the host Centurions (2-1). Furthermore, Samir Crosby notched a receiving touchdown and a rushing score, while Jerry Davis snagged a 70-yard interception return score. In the defeat for the Vikings (1-2), Alexander Clawson compiled 156 yards passing and a score.
