Penn-Trafford has shown a pension for developing talented, college-ready baseball players and that continued with senior Brayden Stone's recent commitment to DII powerhouse Seton Hill.

“Super excited,” the future Griffin mentioned about signing with SHU. “Tough decision and very stressful. But glad I made the decision and it was the right one.”

The coaching staff at Seton Hill stood out to Stone. He quickly took notice of how much they wanted him to continue his career with them.

It wasn’t just Seton Hill that was on his radar. Fellow PSAC school IUP was in the running, as well as Allegheny College.

Ultimately, he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to play for Seton Hill.

In addition to being a standout for Penn-Trafford baseball, he is also a part of the basketball team. The idea of playing two sports in college did cross his mind, but he realized how much work would be involved.

It’s safe to say Stone is making the right decision, especially with the success he’s had on the diamond.

Last season he was a big piece to the Warriors’ run to capturing their first ever WPIAL baseball championship against Bethel Park. He came up in the clutch in the title game, collecting two hits and driving in a run.

The win meant even more to the Warriors with the fact that Bethel Park bounced them out of the playoffs in the semifinals the previous season.

“It felt really amazing to beat the team that took (us) out of the playoffs last year,” he noted. “I know a lot of those Bethel Park guys; it was fun competing against them. But, even better that we beat them.”

With baseball season a few months away, he’s staying focused on his work on the hardwood. He’s excited for the season ahead, though, and the years that will follow when he heads to Seton Hill.

“Just developing as a player and a person - I think Seton Hill offers that,” he added. “Talking to Coach Maz (Marc Marizzaldi), their development program they have there is one of the best in the PSAC. But really just developing as a person.”
