WPIAL boys soccer quarterfinal playoff results from Wednesday, October 26th:
Montour 2 Kiski Area 1, OT (3A)
The No. 13 Montour Spartans continued their unexpected postseason run, edging fifth-seeded and host Kiski Area 2-1 in overtime in the WPIAL Class 3A quarterfinals on Wednesday. Jaxon Camp netted the deciding goal in the final seconds of the first overtime for Montour, while Parker Brennan notched a second-half marker. Anders Bordoy scored the lone goal for the Cavaliers, who ended the campaign with a record of 16-4-0. Montour will face Moon Area in the semifinals on Monday.
WPIAL boys soccer first round playoff results from Tuesday, October 25th:
Greensburg Central Catholic 8 Bishop Canevin 1 (1A)
The top-seeded Centurions rolled to an 8-1 win against No. 16 Bishop Canevin in the WPIAL Class 1A first round on Tuesday at Norwin High School. Jackson Vacanti netted a hat trick and added an assist, Carlo Denis also scored three goals, and Kyler Miller dished out four assists for Greensburg Central Catholic. The Centurions will face No. 8 Charleroi in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Serra Catholic 1 Burrell 0 (1A)
The seventh-seeded and host Buccaneers were blanked by No. 10 Serra Catholic, as the Eagles claimed a 1-0 win in the Class 1A first round on Tuesday. Serra Catholic’s lone goal came in the 64th minute courtesy of AJ Mejalli, assisted by Noah Coppola. While Burrell’s season ends with a mark of 14-4-0, the Eagles will face No. 2 Winchester Thurston in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
WPIAL boys soccer first round playoff results from Monday, October 24th:
West Mifflin 1 Belle Vernon Area 0 (2A)
Nick Kosuda scored a second-half goal to propel No. 12 West Mifflin to an upset of fifth-seeded Belle Vernon Area in the WPIAL Class 2A first round on Monday. Kosuda’s marker came in the 52nd minute, the only shot to slip past BVA goalkeeper Bryce Burkhart, who made 11 saves. Conversely, Titans goalie Flynn McCracken made seven saves in earning the clean sheet. Belle Vernon Area concludes the season at 13-5-0, while West Mifflin advances to the quarterfinals to face Deer Lakes on Thursday.
South Park 6 Mount Pleasant Area 0 (2A)
Top-seeded South Park left no doubt against No. 16 Mount Pleasant Area on Monday, as the Eagles cruised to a 6-0 home victory in the WPIAL 2A first round. Cam Loveland and Daniel Battista each netted a pair of goals for South Park, which advances to the quarterfinals against eighth-seeded McGuffey on Thursday. The Vikings conclude their campaign with a mark of 9-9-2.
