Southmoreland head football coach Dave Keefer has resigned. The resignation became official eight days ago when the school board voted to accept it on January 20th.

Keefer served as head coach for four years and guided the Scotties to a pair of WPIAL playoff appearances. In 2019, Southmoreland reached the playoffs for the first time since 1979 and last year's team played in its first home playoff game in history.

The Scotties posted a 19-19 record under Keefer who indicated that he made the decision so he could devote more time to his hobbies like golfing and hunting. He's coached at various schools and various age groups for over 30 years overall.

Southmoreland athletic director Dan Boring said the deadline for applications for the position is on Monday.
