Westmoreland County high school boys wrestling match recaps from Wednesday, December 18 2024:

Franklin Regional 69 Gateway 6

Franklin Regional remained undefeated as it cruised to a 69-6 victory over visiting Gateway in a Section 9-AAA contest. The Panthers are now 10-0 and will compete in the NursePro Plus Tournament at University High School in West Virginia on Saturday.

Norwin 57 Plum 18

Norwin stayed unbeaten as it secured a lopsided 57-18 win over Plum in a Section 9-AAA match. The Knights were ahead by just six points through the first five matches of the contest but they won the next four bouts to take control. Of the 10 matches that were wrestled, nine were decided by pin. Landon Sidun (127), Brooks Blasko (133), Nathan Klingensmith (145), Jack White (160), Santino Brasco (189) William Petko (215) all recorded falls for Norwin (11-0, 2-0). The Knights' Nicholas Puskar earned an 8-4 win by decision over Julien Sepelyak at 172 pounds. Trent Reese (152) and Frank Grazulis (285) had pins for the Mustangs (1-6, 0-2) who forfeited three weights.

Thomas Jefferson 47 Belle Vernon 25

Thomas Jefferson won five of the last seven matches to pull away from Belle Vernon and secure a 47-25 victory in a Section 7-3A match. With things knotted up at 18, the Jaguars picked up pins from Shepard Turk (285), Zach Rehak (107), Ethan Koett (121), and a technical fall by Robert Cordova (114). Colby Hibner (145), Kole Doppelheuer (152) and Elijah Brown (215) recorded falls for the Leopards (1-1, 1-1). Thomas Jefferson is now (7-0, 2-0).

Southmoreland 38 Elizabeth Forward 32

Dawson Wolfe (189) and David Sager (285) registered falls while Camren Lee (160) and Nicholas Lubecki (127) earned wins by major decision in Southmoreland's 38-32 triumph over Elizabeth Forward in Section 7-2A action. The Scotties (4-5, 2-0) will participate in the NursePro Plus Tournament at University High School in West Virginia on Saturday.

Mount Pleasant 30 New Castle 24

Mount Pleasant won four matches by fall to top New Castle 30-24 in a non-section clash. Nick Morell (114), Tristan Wtorkiewicz (145) and Stephen Predajna (172) won by fall for the Vikings (1-7, 0-0). The match featured The victory was the first in the coaching career of GioVonne Sanders.

River Valley 37 Ligonier Valley 27

Ligonier Valley received falls from Knourth Drury (121) and Aidan Mulheren (152) but the Rams fell to River Valley 37-27 in a non-section match. Lucas Krieger (285) also won by decision for the Rams (2-11).

Burrell 66 Neighborhood Academy 4

Burrell won its Section 9-2A opener 66-4 over Neighborhood Academy. The Buccaneers are now (1-0, 1-0).

Derry Area 56 Forest Hills 18 (Tuesday)

Derry Area clashed with Forest Hills in a non-section match on Tuesday with the Trojans coming out on top 56-18. Hayden Hood (152), Jeremiah Gess (160), Brady Brown (189), Justin Papuga (285), Rocco DeCario (107), Dylan Bateman (127) and Giovanni Beatrice (139) all won by pin for the Trojans (12-2, 0-0).
