Roger is a lifelong resident of Westmoreland County and began working for the Westmoreland Sports Network in various roles, including primary color commentator, in 2016.

He is graduate of Greater Latrobe High School and earned a BA in History and Secondary Social Studies Certification from Saint Vincent College before graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a MED in Counselor Education and Secondary Guidance Certification.

Roger was a fixture in the third base coaches box in Latrobe Little League and Latrobe Derry Area Teener League for 32 years, including as a member of the Pennsylvania State Little League championship team from Latrobe that took part of the Little League World series in Bristol, CT. He also coached high school football for 21 years at Greater Latrobe, Hempfield Area, and Derry Area.

Since 2009 he has been the “Voice of the Spartans” on Friday Nights for varsity football and the public address announcer for various sports for the Hempfield Area School District.

Roger retired from the Hempfield Area in 2016 after spending the last 24 years of his career as the Guidance Counselor at West Hempfield Middle School.

He is married to the former Tracey M. McCarthy and they are the proud parents of three boys Tony, Ben, and Tim as well two granddaughters Stella and Hazel.

When not broadcasting, Roger can usually be found vacationing in Ocean City, MD.
