Uschock steps down from FR

Maddie Uschock’s tenure as the Franklin Regional softball coach lasted just one season, as she resigned from her position last week. Uschock oversaw the Panthers during a rebuilding season, as they went just 2-16 overall, including 2-10 in Class 5A Section 2, missing the postseason. She will focus on her career, while still continuing to provide pitching lessons. Uschock was a championship-winning pitcher during her time at Hempfield Area, and also played collegiately at Shippensburg University. She replaced veteran head man Jim Armstrong, who oversaw Franklin Regional for 23 years.

Seton Hill unveils latest HOF class

Two standout athletes and a historic team will be inducted into the Seton Hill University Athletic Hall of Fame this fall. Last week, the school announced its Class of 2026, highlighted by Damon Greenwald, Viktoria Farian, and the 2006 Griffins baseball team. Greenwald (Class of 2021 – wrestling) was a Second-Team All-American in 2021 and a two-time NCAA qualifier. Farian (2021 – volleyball) helped steer the Griffins to their lone PSAC Championship in 2018, when she was the PSAC West Athlete of the Year. She was a three-time All-PSAC honoree, racking up 1,206 kills, 1,289 digs, 129 blocks, and 123 aces in her career. The 2006 baseball team compiled a mark of 45-20, reaching the NAIA World Series. Three players garnered All-American accolades, while Marc Marizzaldi was named the NAIA Regional Coach of the Year. The Athletic Hall of Fame dinner will occur on Oct. 2, followed by an introduction during the Griffins’ football game the following day.
