WPIAL girls basketball semifinal game recaps from Tuesday, February 24th 2026:
Norwin 46 Upper St. Clair 28 LISTEN BROADCAST
Second-seeded Norwin dominated from beginning to end, earning a 46-28 triumph over No. 3 Upper St. Clair in the WPIAL 6A semifinals at Keystone Oaks. Ava Christopher collected 18 points for Norwin (19-4) while Lenyn Brozeski chipped in with 10. Ryan Prunzik netted 13 points for the Panthers (12-12) who will play Seneca Valley in the third place consolation game Thursday. Norwin will face top-seeded Canon-McMillan in the WPIAL championship on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Petersen Event Center. It's the second year in a row the Knights will play in the title game after losing to Upper St. Clair in last year's final.

Thomas Jefferson 69 Penn-Trafford 41
No. 2 Thomas Jefferson shrugged off a slow start and pulled away from No. 6 Penn-Trafford to earn a 69-41 WPIAL 5A semifinal victory at Norwin. It's the second year in a row that the Jaguars bounced the Warriors from the district postseason. Emma Altivilla racked up 23 points for Thomas Jefferson which trailed 5-0 early but ended up outscoring P-T 24-6 in the fourth quarter. Torrie DeStefano produced 16 points for Penn-Trafford while Hannah Weishaar went for 11. Thomas Jefferson will meet top-seeded South Fayette in the WPIAL championship on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Petersen Event Center. The Warriors will play in the consolation bracket.

Norwin 57 Hempfield Area 42 WATCH BROADCAST
Lenyn Brozeski exploded for 14 points in the second quarter, lifting No. 2 Norwin to a WPIAL 6A quarterfinal victory over No. 7 Hempfield Area, 57-42. The Spartans got off to a solid start, leading 14-10 after one, but Brozeski connected on 4 three-pointers in the second frame to help the Knights take a 36-23 lead at halftime. Brozeski finished with 17 points while teammate Liz Yarosik scored 10 for Norwin (19-4) which will face Upper St. Clair on Tuesday in the semifinals. Ava Shipman and Lilly Houghtalen each finished with 14 points for the Spartans (13-10).
WPIAL girls basketball quarterfinal game recaps from Thursday, February 19th 2026:
Blackhawk 50 Burrell 33 (4A)
Blackhawk outscored Burrell in every quarter as the top-seeded Cougars dispatched the ninth-seeeded Bucs from the WPIAL 4A playoffs winning 50-33 in a quarterfinal game. Casey Brancato finished with 16 points to lead Burrell (16-8) while Aubree Hupp notched a game-high 22 points for Blackhawk (21-0) which plays Elizabeth Forward in the semifinals on Monday.
Elizabeth Forward 61 Belle Vernon 56 (4A)
Despite dropping both meetings with Belle Vernon during the regular season, Elizabeth Forward got its revenge as it knocked off the Leopards 61-56 in the WPIAL 4A quarterfinals at Peters Township. Isis Almyty (18), Lyla McConnell (13) and Aubrey Brown (10) each reached double figures but it wasn't quite enough for Belle Vernon (20-4). Mia Sostaric tossed in 18 points to lead the Warriors who will play Blackhawk in the semifinals on Monday.

Penn-Trafford 50 Indiana 39 (5A) WATCH BROADCAST
No. 6 Penn-Trafford used a big second quarter to take control of the game and its defense was stifling in a 50-39 victory over No. 3 Indiana in a WPIAL 5A quarterfinal game at Norwin. Torrie DeStefano poured in 18 points while Hannah Weishaar scored 17 for the Warriors. Emily Ferraro notched 13 points to lead the Indians. Penn-Trafford advances to play second-seeded Thomas Jefferson in the semifinals on Saturday at Norwin beginning at Noon. The Jaguars eliminated P-T from the WPIAL playoffs last season in a 65-60 overtime victory.
Greensburg Central Catholic 57 OLSH 42 (3A)
Erica Gribble ripped off 25 points as third-seeded Greensburg Central Catholic upended No. 6 Our Lady of Sacred Heart 57-42 in a WPIAL 3A quarterfinal contest at Bethel Park. In addition to Gribble, Avery Jones scored 16 points and Jayla Peterson added 12 for the Centurions who outscored the Chargers in every quarter. Lola Garner produced 19 points for OLSH. GCC will play No. 2 Beaver Falls in the semifinals on Saturday beginning at Noon at Peters Township.
WPIAL girls basketball first round game recaps from Tuesday, February 17th 2026:
Burgettstown 39 Jeannette 35 (2A)
No. 10 Jeannette couldn't cap off a furious fourth quarter comeback, dropping a 39-35 WPIAL 2A first round game at seventh-seeded Burgettstown. The Jayhawks were down 32-16 after three but outscored the Blue Devils 19-7 in the fourth coming just short. Navarah Smith put up 16 points in her final game of the season for the Jayhawks. Paige Klodowski ended with 15 points for Burgettstown (6-16) which takes on No. 2 Winchester Thurston in a quarterfinal game on Friday.
WPIAL girls basketball first round game recaps from Monday, February 16th 2026:
Belle Vernon 85 Lincoln Park 62 (4A)
Aubrey Brown exploded for 24 points while teammate Lyla McConnell added 20 in Belle Vernon's 85-62 win over Lincoln Park in a WPIAL 4A first round battle. Isis Almyty chipped in with 11 points for the fourth-seeded Leopards (20-3) who scored more than 20 points in three of four quarters in the contest. Patty Wesolowski's 19 points paced No. 13 seed Lincoln Park (10-13). Belle Vernon meets No. 5 Elizabeth Forward on Thursday in the the quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined.
Burrell 40 Hampton 22 (4A)
No. 9 Burrell outscored Hampton in every quarter, taking down the No. 8 seed Talbots 40-22 in a WPIAL 4A first round match up. Casey Brancato tallied 15 points while McKenna Miller collected 13 for the Bucs (16-7) who will face No. 1 Blackhawk on Thursday in the quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined. Maria Nyilas notched eight points for Hampton (15-8).
Beaver 62 Mt. Pleasant 35 (4A)
No. 11 Mount Pleasant couldn't keep up with No. 6 Beaver, falling to the Bobcats 62-35 in a WPIAL 4A first round game. Annsley Baker had a huge game for Beaver scoring a game-high 29 points. Grace Arrigo put up 12 points for the Vikings (10-12). The Bobcats (15-8) will play No. 3 North Catholic on Thursday in the quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined.
WPIAL girls basketball first round game recaps from Friday, February 13th 2026:
Fox Chapel 60 Greater Latrobe 58 (5A)
Despite connecting on a late three-pointer, No. 10 Greater Latrobe couldn't overtake No. 7 Fox Chapel in a 60-58 loss to the Foxes in the first round of the WPIAL 5A playoffs. Maggie Maiers had a monster game finishing with 31 points and 17 rebounds for the Wildcats (11-9). Emry Bridge added nine points and Natalia Scekeres scored eight for GL. Lyla Jablon racked up 24 points for the Foxes (15-8) who will take on second-seeded Thomas Jefferson on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
Penn-Trafford 47 Franklin Regional 22 (5A) LISTEN BROADCAST
No. 6 Penn-Trafford outscored No. 11 Franklin Regional in every quarter en route to a 47-22 WPIAL 5A first round victory. Olivia Weishaar produced 11 points to pace the Warriors (18-5) while Hanna Weishaar and Torrie DeStefano each scored 10. Alyssa Bridges tossed in 10 points to lead the Panthers (12-11). Penn-Trafford will play section foe Indiana, the No. 3 seed, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at a site and time to be determined. The two teams split the season series.
South Fayette 78 Kiski Area 19 (5A)
No. 1 seed South Fayette flexed its muscles in a 78-19 first round blowout of No. 16 Kiski Area in the WPIAL 5A playoffs. Gina Devito netted 11 points for the Cavaliers (11-11) while Haylie Lamonde scored 18 points for the Lions. South Fayette (22-1) will face No. 9 Trinity in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Greensburg Central Catholic 67 Mohawk 21 (2A)
Erica Gribble poured in 23 points and Avery Jones finished with 20 as No. 3 Greensburg Central Catholic secured a lopsided 67-21 victory over No. 14 Mohawk in a WPIAL 3A first round game. The Centurions (17-6) will battle sixth-seeded OLSH on Wednesday in the quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined.
