Westmoreland County boys basketball game recaps from Tuesday, January 14th 2025:

Uniontown 75 Franklin Regional 58

Franklin Regional had no answer for Uniontown's Calvin Winfrey who exploded for 29 points in the Red Raiders 75-58 victory in Section 1-5A. Jonah Johnston scored 18 points and Connor Crossey added 16 for the Panthers (6-7, 2-4) who trailed 34-25 at halftime. The first place Red Raiders improved to (12-3, 7-0).

Penn-Trafford 66 Laurel Highlands 44

Penn-Trafford used a big second quarter to seize control and score a 66-44 Section 1-5A victory at Laurel Highlands. The game was tied at 11 after one quarter but in the second, the Warriors outscored the Mustangs 20-8 to enter halftime ahead 31-19. Tyler Anthony and Brayden Stone each collected 11 points for Penn-Trafford (6-6, 3-4) with Evan Gross contributing 10. Antwan Black's 13 points paced Laurel Highlands (4-10, 1-6).

Kiski Area 68 Penn Hills 53

Kiski Area built a quick 15-4 lead through the first eight minutes and went on to defeat visiting Penn Hills 68-53 in a Section 2-5A contest. Carson Heinle racked up 21 points for the Cavaliers (7-6, 5-1) while Jacob Musselman finished with 20 points. Colin Keller scored 11. Calix Clark tallied 20 points for the Indians (5-7, 5-1). Kiski Area has now won four games in a row.

Elizabeth Forward 57 Derry Area 52

Despite receiving 26 points from Stanley Rajkovich, Derry Area couldn't hold a second half lead in a 57-52 loss at Elizabeth Forward. The Trojans were ahead 35-28 in the third quarter but were outscored 29-17 by EF the rest of the way. In addition to Rajkovich, John Wasnick recorded 11 points for Derry Area (8-5, 5-1) which dropped its first section game of the season. Tyler Basic scored 25 points for the Warriors (11-3, 5-1).

West Mifflin 59 Greensburg Salem 50

West Mifflin used a 17-10 scoring edge in the third quarter to pull away from Greensburg Salem and capture a 59-50 Section 3-4A victory. Daven Reynolds poured in a game-high 28 points for the Titans (4-12, 3-4) while Cain Solomon and Tyler Martin had 16 and 13 points respectively for the Golden Lions (3-9, 2-4).

Southmoreland 68 Brownsville 32

Southmoreland went off for 28 points in the first quarter and cruised to a 68-32 Section 4-3A triumph at Brownsville. Four players reached double figures for the Scotties led by Elliot Premus and Ty Whoric who each registered 18 points. Noah Felentzer finished with 16 points and Stanley Chapman tossed in 11 for first place Southmoreland (12-2, 5-0). The Eagles fall to (3-11, 1-3).

Ligonier Valley 56 Charleroi 52

A quartet of Rams finished in double figures as Ligonier Valley edged Charleroi 56-52 in Section 4-3A play. Parker Hollick's 15 points topped the Rams (7-6, 2-2) with Noah Knupp scoring 12, Brian Wisniewski 11 and Mike Wisniewski 10 points. The Cougars record drop to (8-8, 2-3).

Waynesburg 87 Mount Pleasant 67

Waynesburg held a commanding 46-28 advantage at halftime then scored 30 points in the third quarter to put the game on ice in an 87-67 victory against Mount Pleasant in Section 4-3A. Alex VanSickle's 31 points were a game-high for the Raiders (3-9, 3-1). The duo of Brady Brooks (17) and Kade Hutchinson (12) helped power the Vikings (0-14, 0-5).

Greensburg Central Catholic 57 Springdale 26

First place Greensburg Central Catholic continued to be undefeated in Section 1-2A play as it took down visiting Springdale 57-26. Brandon Martin collected 13 points for the Centurions (12-1, 6-0). A.J. Tarpley (12), Brady O'Rourke (10) and Samir Crosby (10) also finished in double figures for GCC. The Dynamos are now (9-5, 3-4).

Norwin at Hempfield Area - Postponed

Albert Gallatin at Greater Latrobe - Postponed until January 15th

Jeannette at Clairton - Postponed until January 30th
