Hempfield Area 83 Connellsville Area 65
Hempfield Area exploded offensively in an 83-65 home win against Connellsville Area in Section 2-6A play. Trevor Donsen tallied a game-high 21 points for the Spartans (12-5, 5-4), while Lucas Simmons and Danny Husenits produced 20 and 19 points, respectively, for the host. Lucas Harwood netted 17 points to pace the Falcons, who remained winless in the section (4-11, 0-9).
Franklin Regional 55 McKeesport Area 52 WATCH BROADCAST
A hot start carried Franklin Regional to a 55-52 home victory at the expense of McKeesport Area in a Section 1-5A showdown. The Panthers (11-4, 7-2) jumped out to a 23-11 lead after the first quarter, as FR hit seven 3-pointers in the stanza. Webber Rankin and Logan Walter tied for the team-high with 13 points. Brian Jones led the Tigers (8-7, 5-4) with 15 points, while Lamont Perkins tallied 13 points.
Penn-Trafford 61 Albert Gallatin 35
Penn-Trafford snapped a four-game skid with a decisive 61-35 triumph at Albert Gallatin in Section 1-5A action. Nick Ponko led the Warriors (6-9, 5-4) with 16 points, while Zach Feldman added 11 points. Darrin Ford scored 13 points to lead the Colonials, who have yet to claim a section victory (2-13, 0-9).
Uniontown Area 65 Greater Latrobe 57
Despite a big effort from Robert Young, Greater Latrobe suffered a 65-57 home defeat against Uniontown Area in a Section 1-5A battle. Young tallied 25 points for the Wildcats (5-10, 3-6), while Ian DeCerb netted 16 points. The Red Raiders (9-7, 5-4), who have won four straight, were led by Isaac Ellsworth, who scored 26 points.
Kiski Area 60 Indiana Area 57 (OT)
Kiski Area scored in the closing seconds of regulation to force overtime, and the Cavaliers outlasted homestanding Indiana Area 60-57 in the extra period in a Section 2-5A clash. Landyn Artman’s basket with two seconds left forced OT, during which Gabriel Thimons scored seven points to carry the Cavaliers (7-8, 3-4) to the victory. DJ Lindenfelser led KA with 20 points. Conversely, Aaron Webb netted a game-best 21 points for the Little Indians (10-6, 4-4).
Knoch 56 Burrell 32
Burrell couldn't recover from a slow start, trailing 18-1 through the first quarter, and fell to Knoch 56-32 in Section 1-4A action. Adam Wass collected 10 points for the Bucs (8-9, 4-4) while Derek Lang scored a game-high 17 points for the Knights (13-2, 8-0).
Belle Vernon 79 Yough 43
Elijah Majors poured in 23 points as Belle Vernon earned a 79-43 triumph over Yough in Section 3-4A. In addition to Majors, Vincenzo Francia added 10 points for the first place Leopards (11-7, 7-1). Hayden Smith tallied 14 points to pace the Cougars (2-14, 1-7).
Derry Area 47 Greensburg Salem 31
Stanley Rajkovich scored his 1,000th career point as Derry Area secured a 47-31 victory at Greensburg Salem in Section 3-4A. Rajkovich, who finished the game with 20 points, reached the milestone on a layup at the 4:23 mark of the third quarter. Ty Harkcom netted 13 points for the Golden Lions (8-8, 3-5). The Trojans (11-6, 6-2) trail Belle Vernon by a game for first place in the section and will host the Leopards on Friday.
Jeannette 62 Bentworth 38
McAlister Steele recorded 15 points as Jeannette took down Bentworth 62-38 in a Section 1-2A tilt. Markus McGowan also reached double figures with 12 points for the first place Jayhawks (14-1, 9-0). Ben Hays tossed in 16 points for the Bearcats (11-4, 6-3).
Clairton 69 Greensburg Central Catholic 27
Greensburg Central Catholic trailed just 14-12 after one but was outscored 25-5 in the second as the Centurions fell to Clairton 69-27 in a Section 1-2A game. John Stawovy put in eight points for GCC while Jeff Thompson's 20 points topped the Bears (12-1, 9-1).
Geibel Catholic 64 Mount Pleasant 59
Mount Pleasant held a 39-33 halftime lead but was outscored 31-20 in the second half, losing to Geibel Catholic 64-59 in a non-section match up. Gage Valone (19) and Kade Hutchinson (11) each reached double-figures for the Vikings (5-12) while Seth Dolan registered 20 points for the Gators (9-7).
Quaker Valley 82 Southmoreland 50
Southmoreland couldn't keep up with Quaker Valley as it was outscored in every quarter by the Quakers in an 82-50 non-section loss. Noah Felentzer produced 17 points for the Scotties (9-7) while Zach Washington amassed 19 points for the Quakers (12-3). The loss snapped Southmoreland's five-game winning streak.
