Westmoreland County girls basketball game recaps from Monday, January 19th, 2026:

Franklin Regional 36 Penn Hills 30   WATCH BROADCAST

KC Yaniga and Alyssa Bridges shouldered the offensive burden for Franklin Regional, as the homestanding Panthers bested Penn Hills 36-30 in a Section 1-5A matchup. Yaniga netted 16 points, while Bridges tallied 15 points for FR (7-8, 4-4) in the wire-to-wire win. Gemma Sadoski, with five points, was the only other Panther to score. Milani Oliver scored a team-high 14 points in the defeat for the Indians (7-8, 5-3).

Penn-Trafford 78 Greater Latrobe 54

A balanced offensive attack helped Penn-Trafford score a 78-54 win at Greater Latrobe in Section 2-5A play. The first-place Warriors (12-3, 8-0) were paced by Torrie DeStefano, who scored 20 points, while Isabella Fontana netted 14 points, Hanna Weishaar contributed 11 points, and Raya Johnson added 10. In the setback for the Wildcats (8-5, 5-3), Maggie Maiers produced 20 points, while Morgan Maiers scored 14 points.

Indiana Area 48 Kiski Area 28

Despite the best efforts of Gianna DeVito and Jada Blanciak, Kiski Area suffered a 48-28 setback on the road against Indiana Area in a Section 2-5A battle. DeVito scored 14, while Blanciak added a dozen points, accounting for all but two of the points for the Cavaliers (8-7, 2-5). Julia Antonacci posted 20 points in the triumph for the Little Indians (15-2, 7-1).

Burrell 56 Knoch 37

Chase Coury tallied 15 points as Burrell scored a 56-37 victory over Knoch in a Section 1-4A match up. Casey Brancato (11) and Kendall Coury (10) also reached double figures for the Buccaneers (11-4, 5-2) who led 32-10 at halftime. Jada Burgard put in 13 points for the Knights (1-14, 1-5).

Belle Vernon 68 Yough 19

Belle Vernon exploded for 22 points in the first quarter as the Leopards rolled to a 68-19 Section 3-4A win over Yough. Emerson LaCarte and Kyle McConnell each had 14 points for Belle Vernon (13-3, 8-1) while Saylor Lee scored 12. Evelyn Gates came in with 10 points for the Cougars (6-10, 1-8).

Ringgold 54 Southmoreland 33

Southmoreland didn't have an answer for Jada Gernot who scored 23 points for Ringgold as the Rams beat the Scotties 54-33 in Section 3-4A action. Ashley Sedona, Bailey Mains and Sadye Premus had six points a piece for Southmoreland (1-16, 0-9). The Rams improve to (7-8, 4-5).

South Park 56 Mount Pleasant 23

Mount Pleasant trailed 19-2 through the first eight minutes and fell to South Park 56-23 in a Section 3-4A match up. Addison Cole netted 11 points for the Vikings (7-9, 4-5) while Nika Contakos collected 19 points for the Eagles (11-6, 8-1).

Greensburg Central Catholic 73 East Allegheny 10

Erica Gribble continued to score at a torrid pace, as she poured in 24 points in a 73-10 at East Allegheny in Section 2-3A action. Jayla Peterson added 14 points for the Centurions (11-4, 8-1). The Wildcats (1-13, 0-9) remained winless in the section.).

Hempfield Area 56 Butler 50

Hempfield Area edged homestanding Butler Area 56-50 in a Class 6A nonsection affair. The Spartans (10-6) snapped a four-game skid, as Reagan Fisher contributed 20 points, while Lilly Houghtalen and Carina Rimmel each scored a dozen. Eva Stutz tallied 17 points for the Golden Tornado (8-8).
