GREENSBURG - A pair of PIAA individual champions took home the top awards in the 56th annual Judge John J. Driscoll Scholar Athlete Award banquet on Tuesday.
The event, held at Ferrantes Lakeview in Greensburg, highlights the top high school student-athletes in Westmoreland County.
Derry Area four-time PIAA wrestling champion Jimmy Guilbon took home the top male scholar-athlete award while Norwin track-and-field state champion Kasey Kemp earned the top female scholar-athlete honor. Both beat out 11 other finalists from other county schools in their gender.
Gulibon became just the 10th wrestler in PIAA history to win four consecutive state wrestling titles; two in Class AAA and two in Class AA. He ranks 82nd out of 167 in his class and has a QPA of 3.5. Gulibon will attend and wrestle at Penn State University.

Kemp, also with a QPA of 3.5, has been a stand-out member of the Norwin track-and-field team. She captured a PIAA title in the pole vault as a junior and holds the school record with a jump of 12'6". Kemp is involved in numerous extracurricular activties and will also attend Penn State. She ranks 87th of 411 in her class.
