Penn-Trafford 28 Franklin Regional 21 (OT) WATCH BRODCAST
Conlan Greene’s overtime touchdown proved the difference, as host Penn-Trafford edged Franklin Regional 28-21 in Class 5A Big East Conference play. As a result, the Warriors secured a playoff spot as a wild card. Greene posted two touchdown runs, and added a 30-yard TD pass to Carmen Metcalfe. Owen Demeri’s 3-yard run, meanwhile, pulled the Warriors even in the fourth, forcing the overtime. Franklin Regional QB Roman Sarnic factored into all three TDs for the Panthers, as he compiled touchdown runs from 2 and 5 yards, while hitting Ayden Hudock for a 68-yard passing score. Franklin Regional has suffered three losses this season, all in overtime.
Hempfield Area 34 Norwin 7 WATCH BRODCAST
Gino Caesar scored three rushing touchdowns, and Eli Binakonsky added two more scores in leading Hempfield Area to a 34-7 win against Norwin in the Class 5A Big East Conference. Caesar posted 33 carries for 157 yards and three scores, while Binakonsky rushed seven times for 62 yards and a score, and he added an 83-yard TD reception. Dominic Detruf started at QB for the Spartans, and amassed 163 yards passing and one touchdown.
Armstrong 40 Kiski Area 21
Despite boasting a pair of 100-yard rushers and a 100-yard receiver, Kiski Area fell to Armstrong 40-21 in the Class 4A Greater Allegheny Conference. Cavs QB Carson Heinle enjoyed another prolific outing, as he passed for 145 yards, while rushing 10 times for 121 yards and a touchdown. Dom DiNinno caught 11 passes for 145 yards and a TD for the Cavs, while Connor Flemm compiled 22 carries for 112 yards and a TD.
Belle Vernon Area 48 Elizabeth Forward 14 WATCH BRODCAST
Quinton Martin and Belle Vernon Area turned in a dominant showing in a battle for first place, as the Leopards rolled to a 48-14 win at Elizabeth Forward in the Class 3A Interstate Conference. Martin scored five TDs, rushing nine times for 174 yards, and added two receptions for 63 yards. QB Brayden Laux amassed 104 yards passing and three TDs in the victory. Limited by injury, QB Zion White passed for 160 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions for the previously-unbeaten Warriors.
Mount Pleasant Area 42 Southmoreland 17
Robbie Labuda led the way in Mount Pleasant Area’s 42-17 victory against Southmoreland in the Class 3A Interstate Conference clash. Labuda notched 17 carries for 155 yards and three TDs, while quarterback Cole Chatfield hit 9-of-12 passes for 155 yards and a TD for the Vikings. His top target was Tyler Reese, who caught four passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. Southmoreland QB Kadin Keefer passed for 102 yards and two TDs, but he was intercepted four times in the setback.
Greensburg Salem 42 South Allegheny 28
Cody Rubrecht scored four touchdowns three different ways for Greensburg Salem, which outlasted South Allegheny 42-28 in Class 3A Interstate Conference action. Rubrecht hit 7-of-11 passes for 72 yards, rushed 15 times for 93 yards and two scores, and added an 82-yard interception return and a 26-yard punt return score. Kai Brunot and Rashad Canady also contributed TDs for the Golden Lions, who scored at least one touchdown in every quarter.
Ligonier Valley 51 Derry Area 7 LISTEN BRODCAST
Keyed by 352 yards rushing, Ligonier Valley posted a dominant 51-7 victory against Derry Area in the Class 2A Allegheny Conference. Haden Sierocky notched 163 yards rushing and two touchdowns and added a receiving score, while John Jablunovsky contributed 129 yards and a pair of TDs on the ground. QB Broderick Schreyer hit 5-of-11 passes for 88 yards and two TDs.
Apollo-Ridge 28 Burrell 14
Tyler Maglisco scored a pair of touchdowns for Burrell, but it wasn’t enough, as the Bucs fell to Apollo-Ridge 28-14 in the Class 2A Allegheny Conference. Maglisco produced a 6-yard TD run, and later recorded a 33-yard touchdown pass from Chase Fenner. Dom Curci and Jake Mull each notched a pair of TDs for the Vikings, who clinched a playoff spot in Class 2A.
Yough 15 Imani Christian Academy 12
A pair of second-half touchdowns propelled Yough to a 15-12 triumph against Imani Christian Academy in the Class 2A Allegheny Conference.
Greensburg Central Catholic 48 Leechburg 21
Greensburg Central Catholic exploded for 35 points in the first half, as the Centurions routed Leechburg 48-21 to claim the outright championship in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. Da’sjon Craggette posted 15 carries for 157 yards and two scores, while Amari Mack posted 112 yard and two scores on just three carries for GCC. Centurions signalcaller Tyree Turner was 5-of-7 for 124 yards and two scores.
Clairton 43 Jeannette 0
The Bears jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter, and never looked back in a 43-0 whitewashing of Jeannette in the Class 1A Eastern Conference. Three different players attempted passes for Jeannette, including Noah Sanders, who rushed 11 times for 78 yards. Capone Jones hit on 8-of-12 passes for 147 yards and two TDs for Clairton.
Greater Latrobe 28 Butler Area 14
Greater Latrobe doubled up Butler Area in a nonconference clash, as the host Wildcats prevailed 28-14. John Wetzel and Robby Fulton factored into every score for the Wildcats, as Fulton rushed 30 times for 184 yards and a touchdown, and also hauled in a TD pass from Wetzel, who scored two rushing scores of his own.
